It's tough to compare both new stadiums considering our new stadium isn't built yet. But, if you compare the current images of what it will be do the actual Emirates Stadium, I think it is fair to say that ours just isn't up to snuff and that they need to change it.

New~Anfield~2.jpg

For a start, the Kop end needs to be an integral part of our stadium. From what i have seen, it isn't and our stadium is symmetrical inside just like the Emirates.

Second, the Emirates has a huge tier of "Club Seats" in the middle which is crucial to the financial success of the stadium and the club as a whole. I can't see that ours has this.

Ours seems to lack luxury boxes. The Emirates has a full ring of them around the stadium. Like it or not, these are also part of the financial well being of the club. I'm sure ours has some, but does it have enough?

Our stands seem to really lack steepness. This will really effect the atmosphere in the ground.

The Emirates has this problem, and we should avoid it. The cost of the roof will be huge, and it limits the ability to be able to increase capacity if need be. Being able to expand to 70,000 maybe 10-20 years from now could be crucial. Have we thought of this?

NYRed i think we are too far into it to be changing plans about now? I mean i am not a building contractor or anything like that, but i'm sure that its far to late to change things now with regards to feasibility.

The plans have been changed quite a bit since the original version - a single tier Kop being the most notable element.

PR - thats a fish eye view - the roof is just a normal size and the seats will be as close as they are now give or take a foot based on current regs.

Are there any more pictures around apart from those on the official site ?

If we have the same as arsenal then we lose the single tier Kop. there are about 7,000 executive seats in the new ground.

There are about 63 boxes.

Must admit that I think most of the new grounds are minging.

I like the Millenium Stadium though - but this new ground isn't going to be a patch on that - it looks like a slightly bigger Reebok stadium.

Nice to know we're selling our soul for something that's an eyesore.

Oh Andy, give over! I've been talking to some of the contractors who've been consulted about this job and even they don't know what it's going to look like as many changes both in design layout and materials have gone through since the original design which wasn't (to coin a phrase) fixed in stone anyway. We have to meet bulding and fire regs, sponsorship and broadcast needs as well as all those other things re infrastructure, transport and parking etc. beyond that, we have to keep to the original footprint and capacity 0 but anything else can and in many cases as Tim says has changed. We know you don't want the move as you've made that abundantly clear - which is absolutely your right - but some of the reasons and fears you throw up are childish. FFS Rick parry, David Moores and Rafa aren't even sure what the finished stadium will look like as yet and you're already calling it an eyesore!

Yes- that's currenttly part of the re-draw - a single tier definitive Kop.

feck knows why there wasn't one to start with but still good news.

That sounds reassuring

I've heard this too, can't remember where but i think it was said that we are going to have a single tier kop of about 16-17,000 .

The stadium plans are not the final draft on the main site and have proberbly changed a bit since.

Ged poynton was on radio city a couple of weeks back saying the "new kop" would hold around 14,000 to 15,000 seats which is a couple of thousand more than the current kop and about a 1,000+ more than the designs already out.

Are you f***ing kidding me? New Adnfield, just from the pictures alone, looks a far superior stadium. And no I dont mean capacity, I mean class. Miles better than that horrible emirates s****. ffs the moaners just dont stop.

Some thoughts:

The stadium should be built to maximise atmospthere. For example, I'd like the architects to look into research on acoustics so that the sound of the crowd is amplified by the building's structure.

Get the crowd close to the pitch. :)

I don't like Emirates Stadium at all. It looks flat and there is too much space between the upper tier and the roof in the corners.

It's because it can be changed as long as all regs, the original footprint permissions and capacity is met. Those original sketches were 'an artists impression' for presentation purposes and not supposed to be the de facto finished product. Once the money has been finalised this week THEN the final design with all relevant changes will agreed - some time later we'll get the details.

Without a presentation package we wouldn't have done too well with the council and anyone else in getting the original permissions.

Seems you want something definitive now without actually liking something definitive as you don't want to move anyway. If they made an exact copy of anfield down to the smallest detail yet managed to improve the view and add 15000 seats - I'll bet you'd still not like it.

I have decided to take the radical step of reserving judgement on the Emirates Stadium until I have been inside it

Since the old Kop was knocked down, I've always thought it would be an idea to try and find out if people that currently sit in the Kop actually sing throughout the game. If they had all the 'singers' seated in one area in the middle of the Kop I'm sure they would create more of a noise, as at the moment there's little pockets of 'singers' spread out around the Kop - lessening the noise they make.

I sit pretty much in the middle of the Lower Kemlin Rd and sometimes 1500 away supporters can be heard well more than the Kop - just because they're all singing together in unison.

The question could be asked when they're allocating new season tickets for the new ground.

The points not that relevant to any design plans for the new ground, but I've always wanted to share that thought.
