Was he injured or just left out?

I have a feeling he may find it very difficult to get many games this season unless we have some injuries. I think with Kuyt, Crouch and Bellamy all ahead of him his opportunities will be very limited.

I think he's very much the fourth choice forward - fifth choice if you count Garcia.

He'll get a decent amount of games at Anfield but I'd like to think we'll see less of him on the road.

Didn't Rafa say he can't manage 2 matches in a week. He ain't the young pup he used to be and needs to be used sparingly.

He played against Sheff Utd and will now have two weeks rest. Surely he can do more than that. Crouchy played for England, then travelled to Kiev and still played Saturday. More than likely he will play for England in the upcoming games too.

Who should he play instead of?

Well basically that's the question isn't it? Robbie is really there for cover and particular use in particular games now I reckon.

i'd have played him instead of Crouch - but then i'd also have played Crouch last weekend at Sheff U.

Off to Chelsea. Done deal. Three squillion a week.

Didn't play so he wouldn't be home league game-tied, thus reducing his price.

think we'll actually see more of Fowler in away games. He's scored all-but-one or two of his goals since his return, away

bit of goal-line sniffing at Goodison in a fortnight, anyone?

I reckon Fowler will get about 10-15 starts (all comps) and 10-15 subs appearances. He will contribute a very worthwhile 10-15 goals.

Probably a fair estimate - hope the goal tally is right too!

Robbie will know the sketch, he'll be used as cover and when players are rested, and probably all the cup games should we progress. That could still amount to 15/20 games over the season, so he'll get his fair share.

Looked totally out of sorts at Sheffield Utd, sharpness wise anyway so maybe that was the reason. He certainly could've done without the knee injury during pre-season even if it wasn't a major setback.

The 2 weeks international break will do him good.

Think that's about right though not bothered by home or away as long as he's alongside Kuyt or Crouch. I'd hope Bramall Lane put Bellamy/Fowler to bed.

Interesting that on Saturday we saw Garcia start at left midfield. That hasn't happened very often.

that's a symptom of rafa's new up and at 'em approach this season. that was a hell of an attacking line-up we put out on saturday, and we're going to see it a lot more this season. flipside is that we'll have more occurrences of brown trousers at the back.

True, but when JAR and Carra are fit again and as the team get used to the improved tempo/attacking game we'll be more solid than one of Wayne's Sunday morning dumps once again. :)

I'm not sure about Crouch and Fowler away on account of their sloth-like, glacial pace.

Crouch and Garcia looks likes a partnership that has some mileage in it. Early days clearly but so too does Kuyt and Bellamy.

Does that leaves Fowler getting the occasional nod at Anfield playing off Kuyt or (if its weaker opposition) Bellamy?

Think that if there's pacy options wide the Sloth and the Glacier can offer more than enough home or away, certainly against weak opposition. Agree on Crouch/Garcia. Think Kuyt looks as though he can play with any of them.
