Guest ohsamisami1 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Did no one else think we should have had a penalty for the tackle that injured Riise? He's just inside the box, crosses the ball and their defender then comes in with a very late challenge that got no where near the ball and took the man out. I agree 100%, buts its like rafa said, if you want to analyse the game for all the incidents, then there were a few that should not have been over looked, the tackle on carra deserved a yellow card, momo got one for a lesser offense. Robbie was ajudged to have nudged that defender before shooting, (albeit he missed) and that tackle on risse was late and disgusting!
Ostrich Man Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 got the ball first. good solid tackle.....just happened to injure him.
Guest Red Flame Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 got the ball first. good solid tackle.....just happened to injure him.Agreed.
jimmylibel Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 got the ball first. good solid tackle.....just happened to injure him. How did he get the ball first when it was half way across the penalty box by the time he went to ground????
Jim D Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 (edited) got the ball first. good solid tackle.....just happened to injure him. Got the ball first? Riise crossed the ball over and then was totally cleaned out by the Sheffield United defender, blatant penalty. Edited August 21, 2006 by Jim D
Cooldude Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 got the ball first. good solid tackle.....just happened to injure him. If he did get the ball first Riise could never have crossed the bloody thing
Sion Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 (edited) I was amazed nobody else mentioned it. The commentators called it fair? if it was in the centre circle it was a free kick no doubt. Edited August 21, 2006 by Sion
Guest Sabre Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Didn't think it was a penalty at the time but would have been a foul anywhere else on the pitch so maybe...
Guest JV Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Thought it was a peno at the time myself and nothings changed that. Also thought the challenge on Carra deserved a yellow card.
jimmylibel Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Didn't think it was a penalty at the time but would have been a foul anywhere else on the pitch so maybe... See I don't understand how those two statements don't conflict with each other.
Gomez Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 No. Sheff Utd were robbed. The Big clubs always get biased refs in their favour. FFS you'd think some people don't read the papers.
Andy @ Allerton Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 got the ball first. good solid tackle.....just happened to injure him. Have you actually seen it? What a load of f***ing b******s you speak sometimes.
Guest Sabre Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 See I don't understand how those two statements don't conflict with each other. They don't conflict in the eyes of many referees but they should.
owenthomas Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Have you actually seen it? What a load of f***ing b******s you speak sometimes.i happen to agree with OM Riise crossed the ball, the defender goes to tackle but the foot Riise had crossed with gets jammed under the defenders leg.. no foul for me..
jimmylibel Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 i happen to agree with OM Riise crossed the ball, the defender goes to tackle but the foot Riise had crossed with gets jammed under the defenders leg.. no foul for me.. Fairly sure that it was the standing foot that was caught, but regardless, if a defender goes to ground, doesn't get the ball but does get the man - that's a foul. If it happens in the box then it's a penalty.
Earl Hafler Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Didn't think it was a penalty at the time but would have been a foul anywhere else on the pitch so maybe... And possibly had the foul on Gerrard been in midfield i don't think the ref would have given it. Ref saw it as a goalscoring chance and Gerrard lost his balance because of an attempted tackle that missed. There were many inconsistencies during the game but i think the draw was a fair result
Repington Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Alan Green thought that incident was a penalty as was the incident at a corner when Hyypia's shirt was almost removed; he was quite critical of the referee throughout for giving some odd decisions to Sheffield United players.
Earl Hafler Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 That was bizarre, reminiscent of Hierro on Quinn and yet the ref only spoke to Morgan...and to Hyypia ! WTF did Sami do ?! If a defender or attacker does that whilst running towards goal, it's a foul ( usually ). Why won't they be more consistent and give them during corners ?
