Maybe, but United have given them Luke Steele too whose pretty highly rated, he was gonna be first choice for Coventry this season.

aye, but steele hasn't much experience. i'd say it could be a little safety net for wba this season to have the pole between the sticks if things get tricky for them in the race to get promoted.

What's the fee?

I saw a few papers reporting he was intended as first choice (bbc says different) but I don't see why anyone would think Van Der Saar needs to be replaced now.

yeah, something very odd about this one. why not sign him outright but with a caveat in the contract that baggies could borrow him in event of an emergency?

Might be something to do with the transfer window. I believe that clubs can recall a player that is on loan but the WBA wouldn't be able to ask for him back if he has officially signed for them.

I might be wrong though

With Bryan Robson involved and Manchester United, some kind of old pals act will be taking place.

They have the Swiss international keeper Zuberbuhler as their #1 so I imagine Steele would be adequate cover for him. Isn't Russell Hoult still there too?

You can't loan a player back to the club you signed him from within 12 months
