And let's face it, Zenden is hardly Mr. Ironhorse is he? We could have some issues in CM if we don't watch it.

We play with a holding midfielder in xabi and an attacking but tough tackling midfielder in gerrard. Hardly an unbalanced axis.

I still think it'll be dependant on us qualifying for the group stages of the Champs league. If we trounce Maccabi on Wednesday, I can see possibly more activity. Still think we'll sign Kuyt anyway regardless, but only if we can get rid of a few more Houllier's legacy.

 

Still gotta get rid of Jerzy, Diao and Le Tallec, who have no futures whatsoever. Not sure what Kromkamp, Pongelle, Mellor, Potter and Medjani futures are.

 

I feel the same concerns about Zenden as possible cover for Momo.

 

When Momo was sidelined with his eye injury, we lacked the energy in midfield and didn't look the same team. Not sure who we could get though.

Hate to say it but I agree with Banders. Xabi/Gerrard is a great centre midfield partnership. Sissoko plays ten yards ahead of Xabi anyway.

 

The injury to Xabi is more concerning which is when Zenden will have to step into the breach. Sissoko/Gerrard didn't start a single game next to each other last season.

Maybe Rafa believes one of the younger players will be capable of coming in and doing a job if needed in CM... May be why Hobbs is getting so much time in pre season... which other youth players are promising in the centre?
