I think I'm in the minority, but as nice as winning the league would be, winning the Champions League is extra special. Can we not have both?!

In the context of world football, "football when it matters" I think holds much more historical value. Think of it like this, 19 leagues and 5 European cups, or 18 Leagues and 6 European cups, I know which one I think sounds sweeter.

 

 

In my opinion the fact remains the same, its harder to win the European cup than it is to win the Premiership. Champions of Europe over champions of england any day of the week, a real testiment to our adaptability, squad strength and tactical management.

I can't agree with that. The league is a 38 game marathon, the EC is really a knockout competition.

 

League is the best competition there is and the most valuable for me.

In the big european picture we would be total boss of europe. Guess being, OOC's theres more focus on the CL. But I wouldn't mind a league title :-)

League preferably , simply because it hasn't been won by Liverpool for far too long. and it'd shut the gimps from london and manc a fair bit.

League is the best competition there is and the most valuable for me.

 

But the League and the EC test two different qualities.

 

Winning the EC is equivalent to winning the Olympics, e.g. Asafa Powell was the 100 metres world record holder, but he couldn't cut it in the pressure of an Olympic final. Liverpool might not have been consistent in the League in 04-05, but when the chips were down in the big games against Juve, Chelsea and Milan, we proved we were champions.

 

That's far more impressive than, ahem, grinding consistency in the league, imho. And I'd much rather have an Olympic gold than a world record, ta.

Couldn't give a toss about any other team. There is only one option here and it is the league title. As a certain bloke once said, that's our bread and butter.
