About 2 months ago the taxman decided to reopen my 2003/4 tax year and have decided that my original declarations are now invalid and that they are assessing me on a substantial amount of income that they previously had allowed.

 

on top of that they are going to go for interest and penalties, the sum of which could result in me paying about 205% of the original sum....

 

...the accountant has found out that the reason for the scrutinisation of that year's submission is because the agency my company worked through declared to the revenue that they had paid me personally which is simply not the case, all monies were paid via my company.

 

If the fecksits had got it right my file would have remained nicely in storage and I would not be facing this back tax demand

 

 

..fully expecting the "well if its due then pay it" brigade to come in force, but you can just feck right off as well
