Dominus Maximus Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Here Milan ponder Gerrard bid Tuesday 30 May, 2006Milan are ready to make Liverpool a mega offer for captain Steven Gerrard, reports in Italy insist on Tuesday. With the Rossoneri set to net around £35m for Andriy Shevchenko from Chelsea, the Italians are ready to use part of those funds to finance a Gerrard bid. The England ace is highly rated in Italy and after initial links with Juventus earlier this year, Milan are now being paired with the star. Milan know all about Gerrard?s quality after he inspired Liverpool?s quite remarkable Champions League Final comeback against the Rossoneri just over a year ago. Boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he is looking to freshen things up in midfield and had already indicated that Juventus? Emerson was wanted. But Gerrard is believed to be his primary objective even if the Anfield outfit have always insisted that he is not for sale. It remains to be seen whether there is any scope for negotiating, which will now probably only take place after the World Cup Finals.
Montse Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Bless you gotta love these journos, they keep plugging away with it!
McBain Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 the missus has probably been on the phone to Berlusconi begging them to sign him Then looking at what shoe shops milan has
Rushian Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Milan? they're implicated as well - if Juve go down many can't see how Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina can avoid the same fate.

sutty Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I have this horrible feeling that he'll have a brilliant world cup and we'll end up on the end of a record breaking bid.
Guest 7777 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I have this horrible feeling that he'll have a brilliant world cup and we'll end up on the end of a record breaking bid. AND HE STILL WON'T LEAVE
Guest Jodus Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I have this horrible feeling that he'll have a brilliant world cup and we'll end up on the end of a record breaking bid. I would LOVE for us to get a £60M+ bid - and throw it back in their face. He's not for sale, it's unconditional...

Guest 7777 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 If that happened I reckon we'd acceptNot a chance, at any price
_00_deathscar Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 We can't buy another Gerrard though. There just isn't one out there.
Guest Xabi34 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Not a chance, at any price For 60 million? Are you sure?
Guest Scot Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 If that happened I reckon we'd accept I think you're right
sutty Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I think you're right It occurred to me the other day. I'd be gutted, like.
Gilps Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Whilst you can never rule it out, there aren't many clubs capable of a bid of that size at the moment. Especially if the big boys in Italy are looking at being relegated.
Gomez Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 For 60 million? Are you sure? Yep, it doesn't work like that. If someone bid £60m, we accept, Stevie get's p*ssed off that we contemplate selling him and he goes to where ever it is he wants, and not the highest bidder. We end up getting £40m - which is what we would have got of the chavs last summer.
Guest Xabi34 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I think Rafa would accept forty million too. That's a huge amount of money to turn down, for any club.
Stevie H Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I have this horrible feeling that he'll have a brilliant world cup and we'll end up on the end of a record breaking bid.aren't there only about two teams capable of bidding that sort of money nowadays though? chelsea and what, madrid? can't see any of the italians being able to splash like that.

Exactly. I don't see Chelsea coming back a third time after two very public rejections either. Especially now they've gone for Ballack instead. There will be plenty of clubs out there who'd love to make such a bid, but very few (if any) that both can and will.
