I've been wondering if we might want to look at loaning someone til the end of the season. Could make sense if we're looking to bring in someone proper in the summer, get someone who's worked with klopp before who knows the deal? Could we ask about Gotze again? Just riffing here.

I wouldn't feel too bad about losing any of our backup strikers if we can get in some kind of clone of firmino. Probably goes to show how lucky we are to have firmino, he's f***ing amazing.

It's selling our best player halfway through the season and not replacing him. Whether it makes the season a write off is up for debate but I think we can all agree that it's absolutely mad.

They already are working on PR to justify selling our best player halfway through a season and not replacing him. All the briefing coming from the club is getting the excuses in early for writing off our season.

The annoying thing is that coutinho's bought their line of 'now or never' when that was clearly because they were worried a good world cup would drive his price up. Oh well, I'm keeping my powder dry in terms of losing the plot until the end of the month; we definitely need to bring in someone (a replacement in that position and a goalie would be nice) or we'll really struggle to get top 4.

Think klopp liked having 4 for those front three positions but you're right, the trouble with replacing him is that coutinho operated somewhere between the two. There aren't many names that spring to mind who could do that, or who are gettable at least

I'd be happy to defer to anyone who's seen more ligue 1 but he looks like a forward to me. Couldn't see him fitting in our midfield three at least.

There's a camera angle where anyone with a half decent handle on Portuguese could tell you exactly what he said. It should be an open and closed case at least.
