It's not great but we aren't going to solve this by buying more young wingers with 'potential' and that's pretty much the winger market right now. Exactly this.

I tend to agree. We don't have to play with wingers. We could easily adapt the system to a 4-3-2-1 for example and play Wirtz and Rogers behind Isak and try and buy better attacking fullbacks for the width. We'd still have Munoz and Rio as tactical options as well. I'm okay with Barcola but we shouldn't be going anywhere near £100 million. Likewise Minteh is £40/50 Mill absolute tops. Not Interested in buying another kid like El Mala, Fernandez-Pardo etc.

I think if we sign Barcola we will sanction Gakpo's exit, hopefully freeing up our ability to sign a left footed winger as well.

He will but at least it's moving to every 4 years and where possible during the summer. I don't think Afcon in isolation is a reason not to sign African players. We should be trying to sign the best players we can. Id rather have Bouaddi than Gomes.

But he has a much better ceiling than Gomes if he is who we are targeting.

Sure, we can only have our opinions. I think Minteh if he is a serious target has a value of between £40-50 Million max. He cost Brighton £33 Million and hasn't done much to suggest his value has increased. I think Brighton would want £70/80 million. Personally I wouldn't pay that, think there is a decent chance we will.

That's fair but reckon they were confident it was a done deal. Maybe but the only other player very loosely linked that is better playing on the right is Minteh and he will be massively overpriced. All other links are for players who prefer playing on the left wing.

And he also outperformed Saka. Arsenals best attacker. It was Diomande but unfortunately there appears to be no backup to him now that transfer isn't possible.

Unless more players leave I reckon we make 3 more signings tops. One winger, one midfielder (but think this is dependent on Jones and/or Mac Allister) and a RB/CB cover.

We are likely going to overspend on players anyway though. If we actually want to sign a left footed winger (no idea if we do but I hope we do) there arent many out there and I'd very much doubt they'd be reasonably priced.

Barcola aside there is unlikely to be a winger on the market we can sign this summer that is better than Gordon. Certainly for the price.

So we need to wait for PSG to sign Diomande and Akilouche and hope Arsenal sign Rogers. Sounds like a good plan. Sure nothing can go wrong...

Neither options are great but rather Neto than Minteh.

Neto may be a possible option, particularly if Alonso chooses to play a back 3. Apparently has a release clause in January...id be tempted to wait.

Id prefer Rayan if it's at all possible.

Lewis Steele reckons Barcola would choose Arsenal. Romano saying keep an eye on Gakpo to Spurs. (Not currently entertaining it but could change) Graeme Bailey saying we could consider bids for Van Dijk if it's serious offers.

It would be but it wouldn't shock you would it? It wouldn't be the first time.

Wouldn't surprise me if we don't do much more business in terms of players coming in.
