Martinus

He’s the type of player that Spurs sign.

Meh. Neither are good enough.

For me it’s more about balance. We’ve got several wingers who prefer playing on the left cutting in on the right. I’ve never seen Mbaye play particularly, I’m more concerned if he does sign how comfortable he will be playing out there and being first choice as an 18 year old kid. I’ve already said Ngumoha sucks out there and don’t think Munoz is suited to it either.

Just realised Mbaye is right footed as well.

I’d be fine with him coming in as a backup right winger, given his age and experience but coming in to be first choice would be ridiculous I don’t want Munoz or Rio starting in that position.

If it was a case of an either or I’d rather we sign someone like Lamine Camara than a winger who won’t be good enough.

Yep we’d literally have no one. Best solution is Szoboszlai

I’d laugh if it wasn't so completely depressing. The club's handling of this transfer market is utterly embarrassing. I was already underwhelmed by the Yankuba Minteh links and knew it would take at least £70 million, but at the very least, he offered raw pace and a left foot. God only knows who we pivot to now because the reality is simple: there are zero realistic, top-quality left-footed wingers left on the market. We are inevitably going to end up panic-buying an inexperienced kid like William Gomes, a blatant downgrade like Bakayoko or Kubo, or yet another left-sided winger who prefers the opposite flank like Fernandez-Pardo

Carragher also said Szoboszlai wasn’t good enough a couple of years ago and advocated us signing Wilfried Bony!

Think this is a good summary. I just don’t think we are going to be brave enough to recognise we need a proper defensive midfielder and that the player that should get benched is Szoboszlai. Florian Wirtz hasn’t shown enough yet to warrant his fee and fans expect him to prove it on his own, which isn’t fair but, you want more. For me, he is THE key player in this squad. But he needs the right profiles around him to perform. Yesterday, the issue wasn’t simply Wirtz failing to make an impact. The structure around him made it incredibly difficult for him to play his own game. On the left, the lack of width and pressing meant the winger kept moving into Wirtz’s spaces, while Wirtz was then left doing the running that should have been covered by the player outside him. But it wasn’t just the left side. The midfield base wasn’t strong enough either, which meant Wirtz had even more responsibility to cover, press and help maintain the structure. The point is, you can’t judge Wirtz in isolation. Give him a solid midfielder behind him, an actual winger to his left who provides width and runs and let him operate in the areas where he’s most dangerous. Right now, you’ve got a Ferrari sitting on your drive with no fuel and two wheels missing. You can blame the Ferrari all you want, but it’s never going to show you what it can do like that. https://x.com/LFCApproved/status/2091771274397626605

This is in response to people saying he isn’t good enough. He is. Watching yesterday’s game was no different to watching us last season which is the bigger worry imo, until that changes nothing is going to change with any of the players on the pitch.

Yep it’s quite clearly not an ability issue. He’s incredibly gifted player.

Should never play right wing again.

Klopp loves Wirtz. He’ll be the first player he selects.

We will see what he can do when he is playing for Klopp

And a RB and a LB.

Good god we have to. That was horrific. Like watching a Basketball match.

f***ing hell we’ve lost to the worst Newcastle team in years and deservedly.

Based on this performance, Iraola has changed nothing

A draw, if we manage it against this Newcastle team would be a terrible result.

There’s probably no one I’d be gutted about losing.

Isak is just a goal scorer nothing more. Hes always been that player. He’s not had a chance.

He’s a left winger. Quite obviously not ready to be a starter but he should play on the left

Klopp would struggle with this team unfortunately

This is going to be a very long season pacy wingers doesn’t change this.
