  1. Totally agree
  2. Hughes at blackburn is a great example of signing great players for less?? last time i checked blackburn were in 9th place.....players who have one brilliant season doesnt make them good signings. Mcarthy has been poor for them this year, as has gamst pedersan.....santa cruz has started well....so did garcia, and even xabi alonso We want to be like man U and chelsea and the only way for us to step up is to start giving rafa more money to buy better players. Simple as that. 'all but two clubs in the league'...those two clubs arent villa or west ham...there the two teams we're fighting it out with to win the title.....we'll struggle to ever compete with them if we dont spend. Looks what happens when we do: We get a player like Feranado Torres
  3. the whole of arsenals attacking force is an exception to the rule..basically becasue arsene wenger is the best in the business at doing this. those names are some good attacking players...but I think ur leaving alot of names out....drogba, torres, rooney, tevez, ronaldo, malouda, wright-phillips, owen, martins, anelka...these are top performers...same goes for players abroad......berbatov was hardly cheap (10mill i believe??) becasue he was relatively unknown...now his worth well over £25mill... i would hardly call rafa poor in the market...his better then ok...becasue when his spent money (noteably over the price of 10mill his got it right 4 times out of 4: torres, masch, alonso and babel) his made the right choices. I think your correct in saying that the managers who are good in the market spot players when there price is lower. We have signed alot of young players from abroad into the reserves/youth teams...only time will tell if rafa has been correct with those signings. Cant really judge our scouts and planning on that yet......its signing the players u want to jump straight into the first team that are harder to pick, and what you HAVE to spend top dollar on. Most of Wengers team right now had to play in the reserves and had limited chances at the first team to start with.....clichy, almunia, eboue, fabregas, diaby, toure, senderos, denilson, even hleb and rosicky.....who knows if rafa is doing that now with our youngsters
  4. Who??? i dont know about 20mill but u definetly need to spend upwards of 15 mill if you want a good attacking player that will perform conistantly at a high level. You get what you pay for...if your going to pay 6mill for bellamy/morientes/pennant your going to get 6mill performances......the good players go for higher prices.....unless of course u pull off a miracle signing which are players that are un-discovered and show a higher level of skill and consistancy at a higher level that they were previously at...thses players are few and far between for a manager to sign....unless your arsene wenger
  5. Thats like asking claude makalele to bomb forward and score goals...ITS NOT HIS JOB
  6. I never disputed that Aurelio can cross...just that he doesnt get forward enough.... Kewell's can beat players and he does...its prob his biggest weapon...and when on confidence his very good at it. I agree that his not the best crosser we have...but even kewell crossing the ball is alot better then babel crossing it with his left....why?? becasue babel will either a) turn back inside and cross with his right or b) will beat the player and then duff the cross with his left which ive seen him do when his been on the left. Your bet?? mate i dont work inside anfield so i cannot speculate on whether kewell will or will not be there next season. Only Rafa will know when and for how long kewell will stay.
  7. Sure babel, benayoun can beat players...but can they cross decently with there left foot?? b******s they can.....and our other left footed wingers- riise's in the wrong sport, becasue u cant run straight through ppl and cross balls in, and aurelio...when he plays...hardly gets forward enough to ping crosses in
  8. TOP MAN!!! And what a player.....one of only a few that can hold there head held high with there performances for us this season
  9. Kewell has alot of big match experience, alot more then babel. Kewell is also our only natural footed left footed player who can go round players and put crosses in..more so then babel who will cut inside and shoot....and as stated above rafa may be using the fact that kewells contract runs out as motivation for him to do better....so he may not be leaving in the summer.
  10. Kewell is a decent enough player...on his day (few and far between) his easily the best natural left footed winger we have. Just not consistent enough...has to be apart of the squad though
  11. Everton still need to play Arsenal, Man City and us away from home...games which most likely...they will lose. and at home they still have to host chelsea, villa, pompey, west ham and newcastle (if there playing half decent)...games which could go either way depending on performances. IMO we pretty much should have Everton covered and the rest of the challengers.....I expect Villa to finish higher then everton and we should be more worried bout them
  12. Totally agree. Rotations only an issue when things go pear-shaped
  13. 1.Masch (No question, one of three players that can be proud of there contribution this year) 2.Skertel (sink or swin...he swum) 3.Babel (biggest threat all game, too fast for belleti)
  14. Played really well...probly are best performer over the 90 mins......looked hilarious when he walked off the pitch with a limp wrist
  15. Totally disagree....that pass to kuyt was very intelligent...no-one saw it coming...and if kuyt was any kind of a striker he would have buried it...that sld have been 1-0
  16. The problem kuyt has is his not consistent....he does have good technique and ability...but he shows it in one game and then his s**** the next. I still think we need to stick by him...everyone goes through a bad form run...hopefully we show enough patience to stick by him becasue he will come good. As always confidence is everything. Ive seen kuyt take down difficult passes and run at defenders, and then ive seen kuyt mis-control passes momo can take with his eyes closed. Hopefully the good kuyt turns up tommorow...he needs a goal
  17. oh please...anyone can score from the penalty spot....his scored a few free kicks...how many from open play?? his an invaluable player but his form has been poor when his needed to inspire and lift his team-mates the last month
  18. in all fairness he hasnt stepped up as a player or a captain in the last few weeks/months. He looks comfortable, dis-interested. If anyone else was playing like him right now they would be dropped. If anyone looks like the captain at the moment its Mascherano. His playing like gerrard should be..
  19. riise will def play...most likely at left mid...knowing rafa and us not having knicked anything away at chelsea for a long time riise will def start and it will be a more conservative lineup. Love too see crouchy start but i expect it to be torres and kuyt up front....kuyt becasue of his war-horse workrate.....masch, gerrard, benayoun the others mids.....we cant go all out with..need to be solid on the wings defending casue wright-phillips, cole, and malouda can tear it up
  20. A good player but do we really need him??? I still certainly rate alonso above him......so theres no need. We're set at CM for at least the next 3-4 seasons.....the striking department sld be where money is invested
  21. No chance. I was at the Fulham game last season...when we lost 1-0. He was disgracefull...the whole backline was. It was after the chelsea semi-final win so we played a second string side..it really was his chance to impress but he was out of his depth. Way out of position alot of the time and gave the ball away all game
  22. Insua, when he has played, has been very poor. Dont understand how he can be even considered to be thrown in yet........especially above riise...who has so much big game experience
  23. This season and most of last Momo was a disgrace...brilliant business getting 8mill for him.....i was expecting far far less.
  24. His turned into one of the premierships best strikers.....he was beyond poor his first two seasons...maybe lurking in henrys shadow...but i remem watching him many times and seeing him miss the easiest chances....when arsenal played portsmouth last season away in a 1-1 draw he missed 3 six yard tap ins!! at that point i washed my hands of him and wrote him as s****!!! another late developer and anything gem unearthed by wenger
