  5. That was the point I was making, he's articulated it better than I have.
  6. Exactly.

  8. Because they've chosen to sell a player against his wishes who's under contract. In that case, the player has every right to ask for his contract to be paid up in full - he hasn't asked for a move. It depends on how the contract's been worded, I'spose.
  9. Of course they get paid by both; for the completion of one contract and the beginning of another.
  10. Theoretically, yes. However in a case like this ie Newcastle, I'm sure that all parties would sit down to reach a compromise. If Nolan really wanted to dig his heels in and there were no special clauses already there then of course he could. That's the whole point of a contract, you make promises and are then bound by them.
  11. Case by case basis then?
  12. Well you could assume that if they're under a long term contract then they don't want to sell them. If the player however wants to leave then he forgos his money. If he's being shown the door at the club for whatever reason then I imagine the club are happy to pay up. In that instance, I'm sure they'll bump the fee up if they can to try and cover costs.
  13. Depends if Keane dug his heels in to stay. I heard he couldn't get out quick enough once the opportunity arose.
  14. Of course which is why if Xabi wants to go, Rafa wants him to tell people it's his decision and not Rafa's.
  15. I thought his contract would be paid up in full. That's how it works unless there's a specific clause stating otherwise although any player would be daft to agree to it.
  16. Agreed but the fact that we hold the player's registration and he's under contract means we should play hardball with him. Quickly.
  17. Massively strong which is why I reckon he's putting a lot of pressure on Alonso to come out and state what his plans are. Rafa has put his case forward but now Alonso's back from Seff Efrica, he's got to resolve things sharpish. Can't imagine Rafa will want to spend all pre season lining up a replacement.
  18. True but I'd rather lose Alonso than Mascherano any day.
  19. I still reckon Alonso is desperate to get out but both he and Rafa are playing the political game so as not to lose face with the fans. Like Ronaldo, if it's not this year, it'll be next.

  21. Not sure about the third one but I agree with the rest.
  22. I thought the above was the rationale behind the the Barry move.
  23. Can imagine Ruddock surfacing in something like this.
