Got in through an empty turnstile to an empty stadium at just after 7. No problem. But realised there must be a probelm of some sort when the place was still half empty when the teams came out. It was the same in their end as it happens. Very quiet in there as always. There was an odd little scrap in our end with two blokes with grey hair throwing random punches at each other ( smacking some innocent lad in the process). Then one of them gets out a large ketchup squeezy and starts spraying it around, plastering loads of people with tomato sauce. Including Lee, Ali and Brenda. No stewards or police around to step in and break up the ketchup wars.

His lack of effort for a whole 5 ( or maybe make that 8) minutes was staggering. If he had scored ( which he nearly should have) i think I might have booed. Or maybe just screamed.

Was just thinking the same on my way in. Its been very dull so far today

Nor do I know the circumstances, but there is always a choice, to speak or not. He is pretty good at avoiding answering questions usually. So he wanted to say something. I do agree he is mostly a gentleman in interviews. But also very, very sharp (canny) and calculating. My observation / view on my perception of a "at times petty and vindictive streak" is a general one.

Timing is of course everything. The song started AFTER two of his team mates who went to see him doubled over and nearly got sick. I didn't sing it, and clapped him off. As did the majority of people there. On both counts.

Am I alone in thinking Rafa should have left it? Or was it the "you're just a fat Spanish waiter" that got him riled? There is a petty, at times vindictive streak in him at times that irritates me The Gerrard chant is hardly brand new and it has just raised its profile for those who hadn't heard it..

Plenty of Murrrderrers chants as I was trying to get through them to get back towards the Arkles after. They seemed to find it hilarious that so many were going in that direction "Town's not this way". Youse can't be scousers etc etc. Could easily have kicked off just outside their exits on the Anny Road. Very cramped and the police were very laid back.

We spent a lot of time walking yesterday Up to Fourfourtwo in a roundabout manner for the afternoon then back to the Lotto metro afterwards. They held a train for us and we got back to Duomo, where K and I found a bar with beer and pizza at 1 am. Fell back into our hotel exhausted and with sore calves and blistered toes.

Very sore calves today from all that bouncing. Thank God for supportive underwear

Good to meet you D! Food was great, in fact Lee J, Ali J and Christine went there today, on our recommendation and seemed to like it. Can I also say that you were by far the best dressed man in our end last night. Glad you got a ticket. Ciao!

TRAVEL PROBLEMS LEAVING THE UK TODAY. Easy jet from gatwick delayed but just boarding now. Most flights out of Heathrow are delayed or cancelled. Raul got in from Delhi but is struggling to get back out to Milan on BA. I am on Alitalia. they have cancelled all flights after 07:20 today until later on. My flight is the next one that is not yet either confirmed or cancelled at 18:50. No news yet and wont be until closer to the time. There is one more flight tonight after that, but otherwise I may get delayed until tomorrow. They cant say right now.
