I know what you mean. cant say someone like Dempsey fills me with confidence for the upcoming season, and for now we arent even linked with players who I think will really upgrade our squad. But lets hope we will be pleasently surprised.

maybe you are right. after the previous owners I first assume bad things. I do have faith in them though (the owners). But I would say that even if you are right, thats problamatic. Its clear Rodgers doesnt fancy Carroll. His situation can drag on the entire summer. Not to mention that if he does stay and we buy players accordingly, it means we will build a squad that doesnt really fit the way that the manager really wants. Im not talking about massive warchest. but we didnt spend money in January. and we only spent 10m so far. I think 20m net every summer is the absolute minimum if we have any hope of getting back to the top.

thats dreamland. I have seen nothing to suggest we are looking to sell Downing. I doubt we will get 17m for Carroll. Im yet to see a credible source saying Adam is on his way. I also dont think Cole will go anywhere. You are talking about way too much action in the market, but the window is open for more then 3 weeks now (not to mention it IS possible to deal before it opens) and we dont seem to be in for an overhaul. I really think we plan to get Allen, Dempsey and maybe another cheap attacker.

I have serious doubts about Gerrard. he was barely fit for the last two seasons, I really hope he is still able to play with high intensity. and If he does see him as one of the front three, I think that leaves us without someone in AM. from what I understand Allen isnt the answer in that position. Henderson is more of a box-to-box for me. Shelvey can do it IMO, but I doubt he is going to be our starting AM. Adam isnt an AM (not to mention he isnt very good overall). Aqua isnt the answer also and I really really hope we arent counting on Cole to play a big role this season.

I guess he sees Gerrard as the AM, otherwise Allen makes absolutely no sense.

the point is we are stockpiling midfielders but our attackers are mostly poor. I would much rather we spent the funds we do have on quality attackers.

Im not opposed to us signing him. however, im worried we wont have much funds left for other players, and I think we desperately need two more quality players in attacking positions.

Pacheco was the best player on the pitch in the first half. I prefer him to downing. Sterling really needs to stay. I mean, if he isnt ready, f**k know what cole and downing are. Suso to me is already better then Adam. not only his technique, but his decision making. Shelvey is a player. Delighted for Morgan. Aqua was disappointing. Adam I really dont want to stay. He is slow,making poor decisions. I dont expect to see Cole flying past defenders, but I atleast expect him to be clever on the ball. He wasnt today. Oh,and great to see Lucas back :-)

I wouldnt sell for 50m. he is one of the best in the world.there are only 2 players who are clearly better then him. after those two, he is as good as anyone so I wouldnt sell him. add to that the fact that the scum had a bid rejected for lucas moura for 30m, a player who achieved f**k all,and Hulk being talked about more then 40m.. also, even if we get 60m for him, who do we buy? we arent in the CL, we finished mid table the last 3 seasons. right now if we want some top talent coming, you sell them the idea of playing with suarez. on top of that,right now I wouldnt even trust our club to get 3 top players for even a 100m. how would everyone in world football will se us if we again sell our star player in 2 years? selling Suarez would cement our place as a mid table team for the forseeable future.

I agree we need to strengthen the midfield. I dont know if allen is such an improvement as I only saw him against us in anfield. But - we are talking about 15m probably. thats a lot of money while we still need at the very very least 1 top attacking player imo. Dempsey isnt the answer. a top attacking talent (im not talking about Hulk or neymar or someone like that who will cost 40-50m) but a 20+ million player. Im worried that we wont get this player. and we need atleast one.

this is how I see it.

Given Gerrards fitness in the last two years i dont think we can count on him too much. Dempsey is creative? Walcott isnt really creative. they have their strength, but dont really think unlocking a packed defence is one of them. Aquilani has the ability, but Im still doubtfull he will stay.
