He's one of my favourite kinds of signings. The kind where you first hear their name and you think "Who the hell is that?" and they turn out to be class. He was a bargain.

It's sad that he never had the attitude that Flo-Po had. When Flo-Po went out to Spain he did well and earned himself the opportunity to revitalize his career. I think ALT is just going to go down as a nobody who wasted the formulative days of his career.

How the hell is Rafa's beard the worst football has ever seen? It's not bad at all. I don't know if this is the season of no excuses. Yes we've spent big on attacking and creative players so we should expect to see improvement in the final third of the pitch, and yes at this stage of our time under Rafa we need to start well - but things can happen over the season. Having said that, I think the pressure is good for the players and for the manager. It'll keep them hungry to prove themselves and to not have articles like this written about them.

I'm really looking forward to play. The offal has absolutely nothing on him in the team - other than the news story a month ago saying he was injured; but the pictures in Hong Kong show him training with the team with the number 21.

Are you implying that because I've been a member for a while, but haven't posted much at all that my opinion is less than those who post a lot? My forum lurking, rather than posting has little to no reflection on my character. I wasn't attacking you at all, far from it - just saying it'd be difficult to judge how we've improved this season. It's very difficult to judge the new signings in pre-season friendlies. Assuming the new signings adapt to our team perfectly, then yes I think our away form will improve. Benayoun to be the creative influence Luis Garcia was, but keeping possession better and perhaps not scoring as much but providing more clear cut chances for us. Torres if he lives to his potential can be the ultimate striker - he can drop deep and participate in the buildup play, he can play off of the defenses shoulder. Babel provides pace and trickery and there were games where we just laboured and couldn't create something from nothing, and he looks the sort of player who can create that moment of magic. Voronin looks like a hard working, effective striker - like the way Kuyt was playing last season, but he looks more natural in that role. But who's to say that the new signings will gel instantly? Pennant took half a season to really look quality. Injuries and poor form also play a big part in how we do. Kewell was an important player for us the season before last. He was good at keeping the possession and looked very comfortable on the ball and the players in his place couldn't deliver as well as he could. So if the new signings gel, everyone stays fit, and we play to our best - yes I think we'll see a massive improvement in our away form. Who's to say that all of that will happen though?

We haven't won a league game away at this point in the season, this is unacceptable. Rafa should be sacked and our players castrated! How the f*** are we going to know if we've addressed our away form? Why don't we wait until a significant chunk of the season is away for us to actually have enough results to analyze and then we can see if we've addressed our away form or not.

What about his Zaragoza teammate D'Allessandro? I remember being impressed with him at Portsmouth AND I know he can play on the left (Aimar probably can too, because he's good... you know, but I've actually seen D'Allessandro on the left before).

From what I've heard from a Werder Bremen fan, who watches more Bundesliga than I do, Voronin is pretty good player and we're lucky we can afford to have such quality backup. He doesn't have the best scoring record - but it's not exactly the worst either. He looks a handy player and I wish him all the best with us.

I thought he was just considered poor because he didn't have a lot of technical ability - but his scoring record was always very good (at the level he's playing at).

I personally don't want Owen back - but I think he could benefit from Rafa's rotational policy as far as injuries go. Yeah, rotation doesn't mean he won't get injured, but it does it's best to keep him as fit as possible for as long as possible. And he scores goals. I personally wouldn't mind Bent (if the price was right) as I feel he has the potential to be as good as any striker, but if it comes down to one of the strikers lower on the list... which is what I feel Bent is, then I think we should go value for money and if Owen is cheaper then Bent, we shouldn't rule him out.

It's not an insult - I really like Inzaghi. I'm saying they characterize the Italian stereotype of being incredibly passionate. Those saying I'm graceless and without dignity or "ffs, come on" are reading something in my words that isn't there.

I think Gattuso should be drug tested, because he acts like he's a cokehead. Him and Inzaghi are by far the most stereotypical Italians in the world.

I've talked to him over myspace messenging (which I think is funny) and he says that he never meant to hurt anybodies feelings, and that he has a differing opinion to us. I don't know how he could form a differing opinion other than stuff from the sun, so quoting Kelvin "s****bag" MacKenzie's "I didn't lie, I only used untruths" crap - while citing other things should shut his arguments down. I'm glad you got the opportunity to have this discussion with him on the air. I'm sure you'll represent the fans, the survivors, the family members, and the victims themselves well.
