Yeah I don't thin Sturridge is a fantastic number 9. He's a good option to have, but I'd like a proper number 9. I don't think someone like alonso would fit into the way we play, as much as I'd love to sign him. Sahin is roughly similar in terms of his preferred style of play and that didn't work out. I think to get a top class replacement for downing we'd need to spend at least as much as we spent on him (i.e. £20 million), and I reckon between him, raheem, phil, suso & borini, plus potentially ibe that position is stacked.

In terms of 'big squad overhaul'.. I think we're probably two first teamers, and four or five people like phil who are youngsters that can step up when needed.
