  1. Well, if Purslow is in charge of choosing the manager, we'll get a t***. People usually pick those having things in common with themselves. Deschamps it is then.
  2. Durango knows more than all the ITK's on here combined.... Which might not mean much....
  3. Bit of a goalscorer that Quegiarella. Anyone seen more of his all round game?
  4. Could well be that those who really wanted Rafa out now get overly defensive when the utterly disappointing alternatives get known...* *mail order psych degree, summer course 1994 the post rafa in-fighting is ruining much of the usually witty and decent debate on here, it did during last season, with other people in the main roles mostly, but I certainly didn't expect it to continue long after Rafa was gone.
  5. I also think Annan is a decent player. Don't rate Podolski though. Thomas Muller is the German Kuyt/Milner.
  6. would love it if Spain put Pepe in goal for the next game
  7. Christ, how tedious.
  8. When I mentioned his age, it was not to suggest he was "a yestedays man", but to wonder if he at his age had the fight and energy in him to take up the major challenge that managing LFC is. Unless you meant last seasons success in the Europa League was proof that he has that energy and fight. If so, one only has to point at the different levels of expectation to describe how massively different the scenarios are. In addition to the Europa League final, which I think has completely blinded some of Roy's supporters, I can also see that the turnaround at Inter was well done. Still, a stronger CV is what would give me better assurances that we are getting the right man. As these are treacherous times, I now need to be comforted by a very good track record.
  9. I see you, who wanted Rafa out, then in, now peddle the agenda against him again. Funny.
  10. The potential manager could also just be a pundit or over in SA in any other capacity, not necessarily as a manager.
  11. I agree that the Europa League run was very impressive, even if it was in the European "B" tournament. However, I do think Hodgson's reputation gets too inflated because of it.
  12. I can readily believe that Hodgson is a good coach, which is a big plus. However, the last thing he won was 9 years ago, in Denmark. A track record would be a consoling matter in times of worry. Ok, he has been at small clubs. I get that. But how would he then cope at a bigger club where expectations are massive? And would he, at this age, have the fight in him? Additionally, even though we shouldn't ideally look to appease players, does he have a strong enough reputations, as in would such an appointment send the right signals of the clubs ambitions, both to current and future players? Sorry. Too many boxes unticked for me.
  13. Get it done!
  14. Aye. He is a good player. I'd take him as replacement for Mascher. Also, what happened to Flamini? Is he getting games at Milan? I thought he held the Arsenal midfield together, and had more than one very good game against us.
  15. From the Barrett article. Meaning Purslow calls the shots on who should be the new manager.... And also reads - "a yes-man, please".

The green goalie one was the best for ages. Shame we haven't got that one anymore.
  17. I am a saddo these days, so such wind ups make me pissed off. Not that I believed it anyway.
  18. Agger is our best defender I think. That said, we haven't got a great defence anymore, or at least not players who are good at defending.
  19. Not sure I want him either. He strikes me as someone who is just coasting now, picking the more relaxed jobs where the expecations are not that high. At his age, and judging by his choice of jobs lately, I don't think he would have the necessary motivation for such a major challenge that bringing LFC back to the top is.
  20. Probably, but some of the other managers bandied about would also cost a bit to get released from their contracts I imagine.
  21. I've just convinced myself that Hodgson is a smokescreen. We have to pay compensation 2.5 mill, which wouldn't be a big deal really, but I doubt very much that he is the kind of manager that would convince our top players to stay. I suspect Pellegrini, Rijkaard...or less likely van Gaal....or, out of left field...Bilic.
  22. The idea of looking at each number throughout history to see how the role has changed is interesting. I guess some oddball can do a bit of backtracking on that one to enlighten us. Some numbers are more or less linked to the same role, where as others have fluctuated quite a bit.
  23. Yep. He'd be a bit too similar to Maxi, decent and intelligent play, but can't get past people anymore.
  24. Agreed. Kenny should have said more. A let down I thought.
  25. Nike can f*** off. Can't stand them.
