  1. Torres and Kuyt up front tomorrow. I think Rafa will cave into press pressure(ha!) and pick Torres and Kuyt will play after not playing midweek. Probably Crouch will be missing from the squad as he played midweek so Voronin will be on the bench. So it will probably be Crouch and Voronin playing and Kuyt on the bench!
  2. Bench him on Saturday if you dare Rafa!
  3. A top finish by Torres. He has shown he's got everything tonight both physically and mentally.
  4. Someone has to be.
  5. I was kind of taking the piss!
  6. I think that the players need to take responsibility. We seemed to have hit a brick wall since the international break and no one is performing as they did before. I think Rafa will be well pissed off with the performance. Maybe this'll make him realise that the squad still isn't as strong as he wants, particularly upfront, and that he has to play Torres when fit because he makes a hell of a difference.
  7. We'll see the benefit come springtime. We might be 25pts behind the leadrrs by then but by god we'll be fit and playing well.
  8. f***ed up today. That international break has really f***ed up our momentum.
  9. I'd take him only if Sam Allardyce wasn't available...
  10. Carra's back! Jamie Carragher set for Liverpool return Sep 13 2007 by Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo JAMIE CARRAGHER has been given the all clear to play for Liverpool against Portsmouth on Saturday. The centre-half will return to the squad after successfully stepping up training this week. Manager Rafa Benitez today confirmed Carragher’s inclusion in his weekend plans as he’s recovered from rib and lung problems. "Carragher has been training normally with the rest of the players who’ve been here all week," said Benitez. "He is okay and I think he will be available this weekend, which is good news for us. "Fabio Aurelio is now getting closer to the squad after playing 45 minutes for the reserves. Harry Kewell is also running again and is nearer to fitness. "Today, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the safe return of all our internationals. It’s not going to be easy for us to travel to Portsmouth tomorrow to play without one training session. "All you can ask the players to do when they return is some running, so it’s always a difficult time." Benitez suffered a scare when Daniel Agger was subbed 28 minutes into Denmark’s 4-0 win over Liechtenstein. However, Agger’s removal was merely a precaution as he’s one yellow card from an international ban and his country’s next match is against Spain. Elsewhere, Benitez must check on Steve Finnan, who missed Ireland’s two qualifiers with a knee problem. Steven Gerrard’s condition will also be re-examined after his two games in a week, but at this stage there’s no reason to presume he’ll sit out the trip down south. Benitez is eager for his skipper to get straight back into action for his club too. Carra's back
  11. It was a shame he didn't get to say goodbye properly at Anfield but the letter is a nice gesture.
  12. He took his goal very well and it was akin to Henry when he drew Ben Haim in and took him on. It was also pleasing to see him getting in Terry's face and not backing down. It was a big mental and physical challenge for him and he came through it with flying colours.
  13. I can't remember as inept a performance as that. Styles made a decision when a decision wasn't needed for the 'penalty' and made loads of incorrect little decisions let alone the Essien fiasco. He also needs to practice walking ten yards because twice the Chelsea wall blocked free kicks about five yards from the ball.

  15. Look out for the official pics etc at about 11am tomorrow.
  16. A signing out of the blue...
  17. He popped up with some vital goals on the run to number 5 and could be an absolute magician on his day. He'll be missed.
  18. Captain Kirk attacked him while he was a youngster.
  19. the thing is you know what you are getting with Zenden. He might not be the most spectacular but you can depend on him to do his job. With Gerrard in central midfield Bolo will have a lot of responsibility defensively.
  20. No Xabi and Bolo on the left

I'm nervous. But I think a large part of it is for a job interview I have tomorrow. At 10 o'clock . They could of at least postponed it for a day or two for me to recover. I'm going to be well hungover if (when!) we win.
  22. We've played really poorly and it could have been much worse than 1-0. We need to pick it up. Hopefully that is the worst we play in the whole tie and if it is we might get away with it. If the ploy was to switch the play to the left wing all the time for the left winger to beat his man and get a cross in why is Gonzales not playing instead of Zenden? Also, the game has turned into one where Crouch should be playing. Rafa was probably thinking that Chelsea would be pressing and we would use Kuyt and Bellamy's movement when there was a bit more space. It's turned out to be a game where we have more of the ball and there is no space in behind Chelsea.
  23. I'd be surprised if Mascherano and Alonso didn't start against Chelsea.
