Everton faced calls in Parliament to sever ties with Usmanov after his assets were frozen by the EU due to his "particularly close ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin".
Usmanov has stepped down as president of the International Fencing Federation, but neither he nor Everton have addressed his status as a club sponsor after he was sanctioned on Monday.
The EU Council's decision to hit him with a travel ban as well as a "prohibition from making funds available" on Tuesday prompted pressure from several MPs for the club to take action.
Addressing the Home Secretary in the House of Commons, Labour's Chris Bryant, chairman of the APP Group on Russia, also suggested Usmanov is now facing sanctions in the UK.
"The government has said that it wants quite rightly to sanction Duma members and it wants to sanction members of the Russian Federation Council but it's not been able to do so yet," he told Parliament. "Alisher Usmanov has already been sanctioned by the EU but not yet by the UK but I suspect he'll be pretty soon on a UK list and Everton should certainly be cutting ties with him already."
Everton are yet to comment on what action the club might take. Usmanov sold his 30 per cent stake in Arsenal in 2018 but has stopped short of formalising recent investment at Goodison Park through any kind of shareholding in the club. Instead he has a £30million first-refusal agreement in place for the naming rights at the new Bramley-Moor Dock stadium. The Russian billionaire, who has close ties with owner Farhad Moshiri, also sponsors the club’s Finch Farm training complex in a deal worth £6m. MegaFon, a company of which Usmanov is the majority shareholder, sponsor Everton women.
