Think Rio's definitely shown that he's a decent end of game bench option.

I think it can be true that he didn’t want Diaz to leave but also hasn’t used Rio enough. I’m not talking about him being a regular starter, just replacing tired legs off the bench earlier in games. I was expecting him to play 1000-1500 mins this season given the make up of our squad. He won’t get near that

And given Slot was talking him up at the start of the year, you’d imagine he was on board with it all.

Well he's not playing him when he's fit and there's a fairly obvious case for playing him in positions he's very good at, so draw your own conclusions.

He's not playing there 'cos Slot doesn't want to play him. There's been many games where he's been fit whilst Konate's form was horrendous or we've played a non RB at RB

Gomez has done that role before - and done it well.

Was just - especially first half - poor levels of effort And whilst what you’re saying about fitness levels may well be a factor, it looks very much like a conscious decision all year to try to play that way. Those two didn’t get injured from being overplayed, just growing pains. Was disappointed but not surprised that Ngumoha didn’t start the cup game against Brighton. If he’s not gonna get a start there I struggle to see when it’ll happen

Difference between this season and last I that he was able to build up a pretty unassailable lead in the league before the fatigue set in. He did that by using his core team, which had been together the season before & knew each other well. He's tried to do the same this year with a much changed team, to the results we've seen. So now it's late Feb, we're chasing a CL spot from 6th place with lots of injuries, a fatigued core unit & performances that are patchy at best.
