Exactly how it feels for me too. It’s devastating. The video Smithdown posted of him singing along to his song in front of the Kop brought me to tears. Less than 6 weeks ago that. I hope his family and friends, and teammates, find all the strength they’ll need to come to terms with such a loss.

Alf Arrowsmith. Scored 56 goals in 56 appearances under Shankly, including 19 in 24 when we won the league in 1964. Sadly almost forgotten now. Injury ruined him tbf. Always seemed to be on the sub bench as Sir Roger's stand-in as I remember. On his own, as there was only 1 sub allowed back then.

He's obviously good at many things, but his lack of height and 'aerial prowess’ is a potential problem for our defence. It’s perfectly valid to point that out.

I worry about a lack of physicality in the team in general. We do seem intent on signing short-ar$ed defenders. Sign Guehi and we could be starting with 3 of the back 4 under 6ft. Set pieces might be a worry next season. No Darwin either - he won a lot of defensive headers when he played.

I think he needs a move. Fresh start at a new club, playing every week. I don’t think he’ll be short of options, he’s a much better player than he’s given credit for on here.

So, just to get this clear in my mind. Slot famously hooked Quansah at half-time against Ipswich because he was losing too many duels and barely played him thereafter. Now we’re replacing him with Guehi, who tends to lose even more duels, and is a homophobic god-botherer to boot?. Okay.
