  5. What's all this 19 talk surely it'd be 1 as we've never won the "Premier" League before!
  6. Out of ineterst who would people prefer Trezeguet or Kuyt?
  7. Trezeguet's contract expires in June 2009 so why not offer him a 2 year loan deal cos lets face it Juve are gonna be in Serie B for 2 years with this season's 30 point deficit. That way in 2008 Juve would probably be in a position to either offer him a new deal if they have gone up or sell him if not. Plus he'll be 30 nearly 31 then and maybe coming to the final stages of his playing career. We could then decide on whether to buy him (if Juve don't go up) for a cheaper price or if not lose nothing and look for someone younger.
  8. Is there are reason why you can't name a squad of 23 (as in international games) and pick from the 12 that are left on the bench? Even name a 22 and have your "second 11" on the bench. I know it makes it easier for managers then to make the right sub but it'd keep the squad players happier.
  9. Very true, no manager intentioanlly goes out to buy a flop/mistake! However, the criteria on which they are bought is the key to ensuring that they won't turn out that way such as the level of scouting conducted, an insight into their personality etc. Rafa's certainly seems more thorough than Houllier's. One of the reasons there are no Rafa "flops" left yet we're still trying to get rid of GH's.
  10. Nunez was more a take it or leave it as part of the Owen deal and he served a purpose, so hardly a "mistake" as such. Morientes came with a good reputation and a lot of people were happy with his signing. Not Rafa's fault he didn't make it. Hindsight he was a mistake but at the time not many people would have predicted hwo poor he woas gonna be. Josemi is the only signing I'd class as a real mistake as he was clearly being brought in to replace Finnan and altho he started well he was just awful there after.
  11. 28. 29 in October.
  12. Lee Peltier
  13. Altho according to Elisha he struggles with the ball at his feet. Not ideal for a CM!
  14. On page 2 of the thread the guy also says Not the most convincing of back up posts!
  15. It'll be interesting to see how much he eventually signs for. Will a fee be agreed now or on performance/appearance based criteria? Hopefully something around £2-3m would be nice as he's still young and got good potential providing he can stay fit!!
  16. Dunno but I'd imagine that as we've got a new kit manufacturer that it'll be a new design.
  17. This could be the CL top as there are 5 stars above the crest.
  18. I think Figaro eluded to a voluntered nominal fee from us around £350,000 IIRC?
  19. Apparently he's got a younger brother coming through the ranks at Ajax. Not sure what position he plays tho.
  20. If he didn't settle it's strange that we've got a buy back cluase. Would be interesting to know how much the buy back clause is for or if it'll be determined on his success.
  21. Who cares what he was like as a player, that's totally irrelevant as he won't be playing for us. What he should and will be judged on is his ability as a coach/manager for the reserve team. If Rafa did give him the scenario tests as someone on RAWK mentioned and he came through that then he must have impressed Rafa with his knowledge and ability. Good luck Gary, hope it works out for you.
  22. If Gerrard, Crouch or Carragher (!) score for England what are people?s reactions? Mine is of ?Yes! Get in there, one up for the Liverpool lads!? Contrast that to if anyone else scores and it?s like ?Oh well! Just another goal.? And depending on who scored the goal I sit back and wait for the deluded media report on how player x is the saviour of England. The key for me tho is what people have touched on already. England play such cr@p football and the whole hierarchy is ridden with incompetence. If we had someone that inspired the team, got them playing decent football and had the balls to make the decisions that benefited the team rather than keeping his ?undroppables? happy, I?d be much more inclined to get behind them. The last time I?ve been ?inspired? by a performance was the 5-1 against Germany (made all the sweater that it was a Liverpool victory!) and before then the 4-1 against the Dutch in Euro ?96. In between we?ve been nothing but ordinary yet people still have this deluded belief that ?We?ve the best midfield in the competition.? ?We have the best chance since ?66 to win it? Just like all the other times we had the best chance since ?66 to win it. Add that to all the additional cr@p that certain quarters come out with and it does my fkng head in. Indecently I do think we have the players to go close altho the inclusion of Walcott and Jenas, the injury to Owen & Rooney and the omission of Defoe and Bent coupled with the fact that we have an inept, clueless manager (all be it lucky ) and we?ve been fortunate to get to the quarters. We?ve had the easiest group in the competition and the easiest second round match. Now we play a team with 2 players suspended, one struggling with injury and a whole host of others on yellow cards. Maybe it is better to be lucky than talented after all!!
  23. Spain - Our lads, plus play decent football. Brazil - My 2 best mates are Brazilian, the parties I've had so far in this World Cup and others since 94 have been unbeliveable, plus I was at the 98 final in Paris. Holland - Their fans were brilliant at the 98 finals and had plenty to drink in bars with them. They also play decent football, liked Gullitt and Van Batsen growing up and even tho their kit should be detested cos of the colour it actually works!! England - Our lads. Argentina - The football they play.
  24. Better than Nistelroy's!
  25. Dunno but BBCreport he needs intensive treatment altho Sven is confident he'll be fine! (Seems more like guess work than looking at facts). Either way I'd have Carra in ahead of Rio.
