When the rumours about Fowler coming back surfaced and most people were slagging him off, I said I would back him in a race against Morientes to which fyds replied only if he was in a taxi. Fowler is the best finisher at the club and last season despite suffering with injuries and playing in a counter attacking team that clearly didn't suit him he still managed 10 league goals which was more than any Liverpool striker. You are deluded if you think anybody believes Fowler is anything like the player he was but even now he is still an instinctive finisher with a great footballing brain. When people were slagging off Fowler due to his lack of fitness and pace,I pointed out that they were completely ignoring Morientes who has never been fit since he signed and has struggled badly despite having plenty of chances who along with Crouch has no real pace yet Benitez signed them both and played them together. Fowler is still a class act and it amazes me even now how many people failed to recognise that a talent like his doesn't just disappear and playing alongside Crouch he would have no problem getting on the end of his flicks and knock downs. As for the chance Morientes missed on saturday, he should have buried it.

Those chelsea cvnts have nearly perfected it.

Was spot on when he said There's no difference between managing Limerick and Bolton.
-
His lack of ability is obviously a major problem but then on top of this his attitude is a joke which really pisses off everybody. I thought his horrific leg break would make him realise just how lucky he is to even play football and get paid millions for doing something he loves.

Everybody(fyds especially ) seems to have ignored the fact Fowler gave Morientes a few yards head start and still beat him to the ball.

You obviously didn't watch us completely outplay teams during that run of clean sheets and but for wayward finishing we would have won a good few games by 4 or 5 goals. To compare us now to the darkest days under Houllier is bordering on insanity.

Immensely talented but not very effective as he just scored his 4th league goal of the season as a regular in a team walking away with their league. From the Italian league I think Bojinov would be a great signing who wouldn't cost much as he was recently offered in a straight swap with the ancient inter keeper Toldo. I reckon that young lad at fulham John potentially has the makings of a great player and again wouldn't cost much.

He will have to be great in the air to replace Hyypia.

He definitely looks like he could lose a good few pounds but that's only to be expected. His diet should be sorted already and barring injuries it's down to him and how hard he works.

I guess that young striker Conal Platt hasn't progressed as he is still stuck in the U18's.

Mista scored near on 30 goals in Benitez' last season at Valencia and this is just another excuse for the poor form of Morientes. He hasn't adapted to the pace and power of the league and he forever seems to be caught on his heels which combined with his lack of pace makes it a constant struggle for him.
-
I hope he's not getting too big for his boots.

Morientes has scored 3 goals in 16 league games now and that was just his 2nd assist. He is not scoring anywhere near enough goals and is setting up even less.
-
A disruptive influence already.

That's simply not true. Since that disaster at palace we have been creating plenty of great chances for our strikers who just haven't been anywhere near clinical enough. The last few games we have looked lethargic, which is understandable considering the number of games we've had to play and the lack of rotation which strangely enough coincided with our great run of form. As for Morientes he simply hasn't adapted to the pace of the league,he has never been fully fit and apart from the very odd glimpses of class like the flick for Riise he has struggled desperately. The way I see it Crouch has earned the right to be first choice and it's between Fowler and Morientes to partner him. Fowler obviously isn't fit or as quick off the mark as he used to be but he never relied on his pace, which can all be said about Morientes yet Fowler can and I believe will score for fun.

A man city fans reaction..... thats a ****ing joke! just when he hits form! that is a ****ing piss take! what the **** is going on! ****ing cole hasn't scored in a ****in month and we're getting rid of Robbie! for **** sakes whats going on at our place????????

Like I said before NOBODY thinks he is the player he was but even now he still has more than enough ability to finish the chances we have been creating this season.
-
Hardly a fact as it's just your opinion.
-
That was the total fee which included loads of add ons depending on how well he did which we were never in danger of paying.
-
Well he has only scored 3 goals in 14 games and gives the ball away nearly as often as he keeps it so he isn't holding the ball up as well as some people think and he has rarely lasted 90mins due to his lack of fitness. Fowler has been unlucky with injuries but he never relied on his pace even as a youngster. There are a few reasons he can't get into the city team with the main reason reportedly to do with the terms of his contract but also because the way they play they need front men with pace. The last 2 or 3 seasons with us was the same as the team was built around Owens pace as we were a mainly counter attacking team and we needed Heskey up front as an out ball and should have been an ideal partner for Owen. Fowler in his last season for us still scored 17 goals including 2 in cup finals and this was despite him not being a regular. He is still the most natural finisher since Greaves and even half fit he would score for fun with the amount of chances we create.

How do you know Fowler can't get himself fit? and we all know how motivated he would be playing for us again. How many of those last 12 games has Morientes played the full game? For me he is trying hard and has contributed but it's just not happening for him and the stats back it up.
