Alonso hasn't looked right for a while. He's still brilliant compared to most midfielders - just not compared to himself last year.

Of course it is. Hence I'm not suggesting he gets sold, Rafa gets sacked and O'Neill gets £30 million a year to lead us back to glory like some people appear to be. We had more than half our side suffer a large dip in form and given our lack of creativity in the final third lately it just meant we were as schite as we have been for years. It was appalling. I fully expect us to bounce back though - we've done the nightmare performance now and can get on with being our usual excellent selves.

I'm normally one of the more positive types who have a go at the doomsayers, but that performance tonight took me back to the Souness years. It was dire. Kewell regressed 12 months tonight - haven't seem him that bad for ages. The rest of the team (Finnan and Carra excluded) took their cue from him.

Have a go at the negative types who are predicting the end of the world and the death of society as we know it, but don't try and pretend we were anything other than absolutely rubbish tonight. We will t*** them at home for sure though. Can't wait.
