I think he always wanted to use Miller Mcleish partnership from his Aberdeen side. And if you are taking a star like Hansen to the World Cup you have to play him...

Probably not) But I guess everyone is different. Mcmanaman probably still is an Everton fan as Waddle is for sure Sunderland fan. We have a classic example in Russia, Panov, striker most famous for scoring twice away vs France when they were world champs grew up supporting Spartak, played for Zenit biggest Spartak rival, but now retired he is still Spartak fan and is always saying filthy stuff about Zenit

We 'll never know but I still think first and foremost he is full of himself. Alex Ferguson is a fan of Alex Ferguson more than anyone's hater. And secondly I reckon if you grew up supporting a club then you ll still support this club even if in professional life you play or manage a rival team. I think Chris Waddle always was and still is a Sunderland fan despite playing for Newcastle and never playing for them. And Fergie is a Rangers fan as is Kenny. Or I am talking bulls*** already?

Yeah, yesterday I listened to Guardian podcast they talked about Man U Arsenal match in 2003 I think and it was funny that even a man u fan among journos agreed that Fergies plan was to kick Arsenal off the park and that they should ve had 3 red cards in the first half already.

I am sure Arsenal fans would say exactly the same, us meaning "Arsenal".
  6. If we are playing of course its Up the Reds and b*******s to anyone else even if I like that particular "anyone". But I think you can have a soft spot for other teams esp if those teams rarely if ever play against Liverpool.

If you are a sane person and want success for manure would you recommnend David Moyes for a job?)

Do you reckon Fergie really hates us? In my view all the drivel of "knocking off their perch" type was said for only one reason, to boost his legendary status. He doesn't give a f*ck about manure, may be he is even enjoying their struggle. It shows how great he is. I
  9. Covid-19 effect. in normal circumstances of course I wouldn't have time to post so much on a football forum.
  10. Technically Whelan would be good enough, thats 100%. I don't know about tactical things and the amount of running Klopp demands from midfielders. But, again, with advances in training Ronnie would be fitter.
  11. 1. Real Sociedad (obvious Liverpool connections, Toshack, Aldo, Xabi Alonso) 2. Brondby IF (Laudrup brothers first club, they were good in the 90s also. Beat us in UEFA Cup) 3. Kuusysi Lahti (They beat Soviet champions Zenit in the 80s and I f**ng hate Zenit. It was a great laugh, the most enjoyable result of the season. I still remember, Kuusysi had one overweight 40-year old or smth English guy and he was the best player on the pitch. They ve dropped to 4th division now) 4. Dundee United (They were very good in the 80-s. Believe it or not they ve played Barca 4 times and won all 4 matches. Should ve been Liverpool Dundee United 1984 European Cup final if not for the bent ref)
  12. Listened several times to his podcasts. Mick always talked about us with fondness in his voice. About us and about Cadiz, his second love .
  13. Never knew Dave Watson's brother Alex played for us a little bit. Was he any good?

Don't worry guys. All the leagues where they ve decided to conclude the season and where one team had a big lead over the rest of the field declared this team as champions. Chilean Primera last seasom, Belgian League this season, Scots I think also gonna declare Celtic champions. Dutch league where Ajax is leading only on goal difference is a completely different case.
  15. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/apr/21/sweden-plans-to-kick-off-top-football-division-on-14-june-with-fans-in-stadiums?CMP=share_btn_tw Sweden's approach to pandemic was different from the start. Though I understand that they have somewhat unique circumstances, large territory, relatively small population.
  16. His goal for CSKA Moscow vs Sevilla in the Champions League. Actually in Russia he also played very little football cause of injuries but still scored some stunning goals
  17. Mark Gonzalez was actually a very talented player its a pity he was made of glass
  18. Diouf and Collymore for me top the most hated list. As a Russian I have one more reason to hate Collymore, he worked for RT, Putin's propaganda tool.
  19. He knew how to chip the ball! His ball control sometimes let him down in the matches that I saw. I ve never seen such mistakes from Whelan for ex. But now I ve looked, Nicol was even player of the year in 1989. And those journos who ve voted certainly watched him play many more times.
  20. Nicol had great stamina but not that great technical ability. I d put him in a "very good" category)
  21. He played in a great team. But was he among the best players of that team? Its an honest question, from what I ve seen in old videos he wasn't. I d say from what little I ve seen our world class players of the 80-s are (all the decade) -- Dalglish, Souness, Hansen, Rush, Whelan (still very underrated, was exceptional not only for us but also for Irelandl), Lawro, Digger, Beardsley. Those guys would be good even in todays football esp with advances in training and fitness. The rest were good or very good but not great. Just my humble opinion
  22. If that happened now the goal would be disallowed as goalies are overprotected these days. Btw, we had also some shocking refereeing decisions against us. Obviously Heysel penalty but also that tackle on Gayle in the first half in the Bayern penalty area. I ve never seen in my life more clear penalty and now Bayern defender would ve been sent off also. From 0:21, great pass from Hansen!
  23. It was more of an attempt to show how good was Jones than an attack on Neal. I am too young to have an an expert opinion on Neal I understand it.
  24. Rob Jones. Don't know about forgotten but he was very good and very consistent. As a player much better than Phil Neal from what I ve watched on old videos. Certainly better than Gary Neville. But Neal and Neville are regarded as legends or at least club legends cause they ve won so many trophies...
  25. To be fair, he was good for Rangers. He had started their domestic dominance and they also had some memorable wins in Europe under him. For ex, they beat a great Dinamo Kyiv side which at the time was basically Soviet national team that finished second in Euro 1988.
