  7. I know he grew up there, but he deffo sounds German to me...
  8. Theyv'e turned me down twice believe it or not!! Apostraphe put in wrong place solely for Sutty's benefit.
  9. I am 100% convinced that the level of criticism that heads his way is because he's playing in German, and has a German accent. The little-Englanders must hate that!! Plus... he's probbo turned down Spurs (everyone else has) so that's another black mark!
  10. I was ten in 1990, and it's the first world cup I remember, and easily the best for me!! I've got a vague recollection of a Yugoslav scoring a brilliant goal where he does a turn and sends about 4 defenders the wrong way... I think it was Dragon Stoijkovic. I'd love to see that goal again, so if anyone knows of a link for it, it would be much appreciated. Then there was the best foul ever seen - half the Cameroon team clattering Cannigia. And Lothar Matthias was absolutely brilliant... scoring some belting goals and generally being the best player in the world cup. How he never won the Golden Ball (it went to Schillachi) I'll never know... his goal against Yugoslavia being the highlight. Great stuff... hopefully this world cup will be up there, as for various reasons it's not been the same since for me! Maybe it was the innocence and joy of youth? And one last this.. a lad from my school played alongside Toto Schillachi in America!! Can't remember the team though.
  11. What is the score for those who actually genuinely want to go on holiday? Say they were going to Spain or somewhere? Do you have to show the bookinbg of a hotel over there and all that, and plane tickets etc to get your passport back, or is it the case that you simply can't go on holiday throughout the whole of the world cup?

  16. And so has my nephew (14) and niece (12). My best mate (26), drinking buddy (23), barman (22), and landlady (40) have not
  17. A couple of lads in the pub started doing the books, and I was taking the piss at first, but then work gave out free books and let you buy stickers at a discount so I started collecting them. I'm now seriously addicted, and can't stop buying stickers!! Is anyone else sad enough to be doing the same? Got any swaps? I'm down to my last 50 stickers that are needed, as we have a swapsie Sunday in the pub each week, as well as there being loads of stickers knocking about work. So... anyone got a load of swaps available? I've got loads myself, so we could do business!!
  18. That was my first season with a ST the 87-88 one That QPR game was amazing - though my Dad's car got broken into. I can still remember the number plate of it, as I was the one who heard George say "Would the owner of a Red Sierra, registration D818 WVO please dontact your nearest police officer", as my arl fella's deaf. We'd been visiting an aunt in hospital so got up to the ground late, and parked in a dodgy side street. I remember my Dad being more pissed off with missing a goal than the car - luckily he only missed the one goal!! Barnes' two goals were brilliant - what a genius he was. It's crazy that I can remember so much about a game from nearly 20 years ago, yet I have loads of blanks from the the games I've been to over the last couple of years!! I suppose it's the ale that does that.
  19. Too right... if it's not warm and tasting of rat's piss then it won't be the same!! I'll have a look at the Wetherspoons... can always head into town after and have a few there to recreate it
  20. I've booked Thursday and Friday off work so I can watch the run up to the final, the semi final, the final, the highlights of the final from OTV, then one night in may!! Still can't find an offy here that does Efes mind
  21. I'm no fan of Leeds - quite the opposite, but it would have been terrible had they have gone bust and disappeared.
  22. f***ing wind yer neck in. It doesn't need 3 people on his back for posting something that's been in the media - even it is has been posted elsewhere. I for one was glad this is in a new thread, cos I can't be arsed with trawling through a huge thread to get a snippet about Defoe!!

  24. I've been studying his body language in recent months and it's clearly because he's not happy with not taking a penalty in the shoot out. Looking at the pictures, he obviously doesn't get on with Rafa, hence the glare being in the direction of him, and it's a sure sign that he's off in the summer!!
