Seems like the arsenal are missing quite a few, what do we expect will be the starting lineup. I reckon something along the lines of GK Reina RB Johnson CB Carragher CB Skrtel LB Agger CM Lucas CM Gerrard RM Maxi AM Cole LM Jovanovich CF Ngog

Cole Boon To Lift The Anfield Gloom... Posted 19/07/10 15:26 EmailPrintSave What highlights the signing of Joe Cole to be a good bit of business for Liverpool isn't the money involved - though it's certainly a smart bit of business to have effectively swapped Yossi Benayoun for Cole and received £5m into the bargain - but the surprise. Until the weekend, Liverpool hadn't even been deemed serious contenders to win the race for his signature. In a bolt, they have persuaded Cole to leave London, ignore overtures from Arsenal and Tottenham, and sign on their dotted line. Regardless of how you rate Cole, that's an impressive bit of sweet talking by Roy Hodgson. Money will, of course, have been a critical factor. The sums involved must have been significant for Cole to leave London for the first time in his professional career and forsake Champions League football. But it can't have been the only factor - Cole is a multi-millionaire and without a proper financial care in the real world - and the sale of Benayoun coupled with Cole's free agent status means that Liverpool will still be in profit. And with Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard both earning six-figure weekly wages, Liverpool have not been required to break their existing wage structure in order to accommodate his reputed £90,000-a-week demands. If there is a risk, it is that Cole will not provide value on the pitch. He has played relatively few minutes in the past 18 months and it was only because of the failings of others that his reputation soared this summer at the World Cup. Memo to the easily-misled: Cole finished last season at Chelsea behind Salomon Kalou in the pecking order. He has much to prove, not least his fitness. But transfers can provide value in other ways. Though Anfield cheerleader-in-chief Phil Thompson was clearly in excitable mood when he announced "this signing will get everyone renewing their season tickets now", his remark still had a point even after the hyperbole was extracted. The news is just the fillip the club, its supporters and players desperately required. It adds credibility to hopes of a return to the top four and, though it falls short of being a statement of intent, it does leap out as a note of optimism after months of unremittingly grim tidings. Cole cannot have been lured north by lucre alone; Hodgson is either a better talker than anyone has ever given him credit for, or Liverpool's off-field problems have been exaggerated. One intriguing unknown is whether or not he has been given any assurances acquiescing to his recently-voiced demand to "play in a more central position". Just where does Hodgson intend to incorporate his new signing? Given that Cole is unlikely to have moved north without the expectation that he will be a first-choice pick, a clue to Hodgson's thinking must have surely been requested. A second is what effect the news will have on Gerrard and Torres as they consider their plans for the future. It's easy to deride Cole as a crocked Chelsea reserve, but it's also not difficult to imagine Liverpool's two prized assets being relieved and placated by the arrival of a three-time Premier League winner. Had Hodgson's first signing been Gilberto Silva, Paul Konchesky, Maynor Figueroa or James Beattie - all of whom have been linked with the club in recent weeks - then Gerrard and Torres could hardly have been blamed if they rushed to the exit. Cole's signing might matter more in what it prevents rather than brings. Pete Gill

Realistically it's a 20 million pound signing (for nowt). Kind of player who has never relied on pace and could have his best years ahead of him!
-
Fantastic signing, shows a bit of intent too. Keep Gerrard and Torres and it's on!
-
If yours subs are el zhar, degen and pacheco (he's just a kid), you're never gonna make it, I'd bet fulham had 3 better subs tonight!

Roy Evans is having a right moan on 3e on Irish tv, think we've been doing alright, have pretty much bossed this game
-
I think we'll get 4th with a bit to spare, i can see us getting 6 wins and a draw (draw a to hull last day) it'll still be enough for us. Don't doubt the experience factor, we have it in spades over the rest of them, squeaky bum time and all, does odd things to clubs, villa are in freefall, they'll be putting everything into cup semi final. Spurs and Man City have really hard run ins. Its on!

Two home second legs, we're the best side in this by a distance, good to have a few glamourish ties, bring it on

? ESPN said Atwell said he just saw a coming together so no doubt that he will review it and hand it over to the FA

Does ban kick in straight away or 7 days from now. Brown was shown walking towards the sideline saying 3 match ban, what a c*nt.
-
Stig had quality going forward, traore pace and could defend
-
At least traore had a few qualities, I really think this kid doesnt have any.
-
Name a worse regular in living memory, he has no pace, gets turned by any decent winger, constantly turns his back (biggest no no for a defender in my book), is extremely limited going forward and his distribution is average at best. I know he's young, looked promising initially but he's never gonna develop into anything.
-
Insua is the worst LB we've ever had and that's saying something, always gets turned and worse still always turns his ar5e to the ball
-
I need to swear
-
We've had the better of that, maxi is a bit of a passenger, gerrard to get the winner, looks like he's playing himself into a bit of form.
-
Can someone post full team and subs
-
Anyone who thinks Insua is more than just average is way off the mark
