  2. Liverpool knocked out of Europe, asylum seekers to blame?
  3. Yep, we offered him higher wages as well but he was dead set on going to Barcelona. Have to respect that really.

  8. It's always going to be difficult for anyone coming in to try and fill Sami's boots. It does help however if you can control your limbs.
  9. Isn't there always a press conference after European games?
  10. Pass me the revolver, I'm going for a walk in the woods.
  11. You can't count a goal thats been disallowed for the precise reason that the attacker has gained an unfair advantage. Don't get me wrong Fowler's overhead kick against Birmingham was class, but there's a reason he was in that position to finish it. Charlton was a good hit, still not convinced about the keeper mind, and was a good goal, but it doesn't count because it was ruled out. Tonights wasn't really one thing nor the other. No idea if the ball went out first, but it just hit him and went in. Hell I'd have taken that at the time, but still. We all know what Robbie is capable of, you only need to watch his goal against United for City, but using disallowed goals to bolster his case, is hardly a watertight argument. Regretfully I must now depart these hallowed boards and retire to bed.
  12. Because you can't count disallowed goals? The Birmingham one he was clearly offside. Not so the Charlton one and was a good finish (though I personally thought the keepr dropped a clanger). Tonights, I don't know, but it didn't count, so you can hardly use them as a reason to start a player. I'm sure there are plenty of strikers and other players who've got loads of disallowed goals.
  13. No I won't I refu... Ah damn, I fell into the trap.
  14. That'd be fun just for the freekicks. Any foul within 30 odd yards of goal for either side is going to result in a shot.
  15. Should be an interesting game against Arsenal on Sunday. Will we have a backlash, will it be a bit of an "After the Lord Mayors Show (Copyright every Tabloid newspaper ever)" occasion for Arsenal?
  16. SeLl NEw BanNErs!!!
  17. If it was a choice of what final I'd like to see, then AC Milan versus Barcelona by a country mile, both the games in the group stage last year were engrossing. I'd like to see Schevchenko have a final where he really gets to show his goal scoring prowess. Last season he played well don't get me wrong, and was kept out by a mix of last gasp defending, superb goalkeeping and divine intervention, but even before he took his penalty he looked a totally broken man. The last final Milan were in before that was such a dull affair it barely deserves remembering. I'd like to think Milan - Barca would provide fabulous attacking football.
  18. I was saying "Oh s***" the second he shifted the ball across the 18 yard box, you just knew what was coming.
  19. We're not 5 points off yet, and United still have to go to Chelsea and play Arsenal. I think we can do it. Whether we will or not remains to be seen.
  20. To be honest I don't think at any point since Istanbul, that I've really believed we would retain the trophy. Its such a hard task to win the European Cup back to back, I just couldn't quite see it happening. I thought we'd last a bit longer mind you, but what can you say. They scored two excellent goals, and we didn't score any. The away leg was such a non-event that their goal set the tone for the whole tie. We've no become a crap side over night, very much the same as we didn't become the best side ever. There'll be plenty of players in and out over the summer, and I expect several will be strikers. We're still a work in progress, but we've got an excellent back 5 and a top class midfield, so we're well on our way. If someone had offered me 2nd place in the League and the FA Cup at the start of the season I'd probably have taken it. Ensuring thats what we end up with is our new objective.
  21. It's getting all a bit surreal with Arsenal now, deja vu is just hammering away. Pleased for them mind you. If I had a choice I'd probably plump for Arsenal or Lyon to win it now. Lyon for Ged, and Arsenal because it'd drive United and Chelsea crazy. Also I've got a couple of mates who support Arsenal, and they'd be made up. They were all cheering for us in Istanbul, so it seems only fair to repay the favour.
  22. Which Gospel did he say that in?
  23. He'll forget in 5 minutes, it'll be fine.
