  1. I went to the game and have loads of great memories, but I have always wanted to see the full TV footage including the show they put on before the game on the pitch. Always remember them rhythmically hitting drums etc. Watching the punditry at half time and then full tine would be joyous too. Anyone know if it available anywhere?
  2. Is he reliable? If so, it was good while it lasted!
  3. I would absolutely love to be proved wrong on this. We’ve shown with Caicedo that we’ll slap massive money on the table for a ‘game changer’. We’ve shown we’ll pay huge, top tier wages for our absolutely best players. Yet we’ve never done both on the same player at the same time. It’s be something like £120m and £350k a week wages i reckon. That’s £210m over a five year deal but with an asset who would only then be 27. We’ll probably bring in well over £100m in player sales this summer too. If ever we spend this amount on a player it is now.
  4. Would they stick out information like that if it looked like he was choosing Bayern?
  5. For someone else.
  6. I think i’ve probably not made a clear distinction here. Loads of fans and pundits had outlined issues with his clunky link up play but it doesn’t mean we didn’t think he was decent. It was clear he didn’t necessarily play to our current strengths though. He was/is a complete 180 from how Firmino played. So too would Haaland have been. Voices in the room were quite obviously cautious about how he would fit in. But it seems reasonably clear that Klopp, despite not being named directly by Graham even if he does imply it, was wooed by how Nunez performed against us. As perhaps we were with Minamino. I don’t want a manager with that kind of power - to make a club record transfer with nagging doubts. Tell them what you want and have the final say but if we have clever people in the room to which the transfer doesn’t make sense then swerve it. Thankfully it looks like the proper structure and failsafes are back. Chiesa not withstanding.
  7. If you cherry pick the quote, yes. “The difficulty with Nunez was that he was a very different type of player to Firmino. My questions were: ‘Are we going to change our style or formation for him?’ Is he a good enough player that it might be worth making those changes?’. It was something we had resisted for many years. "We went through the same data process for Nunez as with other players. I wanted to make sure that everyone knew what a big change it would be with Nunez. It was more, 'Are we sure we’re going to make the best use of him?'. "I talk in the book about classifying players to understand what their role is. It’s different to whether they are any good or not. "We always had a list of ‘great players but not for Liverpool’. Defensive full-backs, target men, crossing wingers — we just didn’t play in that style. "It was clear that Nunez was a No 9. I wouldn’t say that the data said no to Nunez. It’s more ‘if we sign this player we have to understand this is the role we’ve seen him be effective in and is there currently a slot for him in our squad?’. "And if you’re spending a large amount of money on a player then he has to start. The worst thing you can do is buy a squad player and spend money that could be out there on the pitch." He also says that playing two good games us ‘clearly had an effect” on Klopp.
  8. No one could have predicted how badly it would go for Naby. Bringing him in looked to be a departure from relatively pragmatic workhorses in there but who knows how good he would have been without injuries. Nunez is a mistake that shouldn’t have been made and seems to have been a clear departure from thorough, data led recruitment. Jurgen saw him play a blinder against us and got his way. Safe to say people thought he could kick on but there were videos of the poorer parts of his game springing up all over the place before he’d even signed. He’s been dreadful.
  9. Do you think the real Florian Wirtz has just over 5k followers?
  10. Honestly i think it’d be great if they being the FA Cup with them next week. I’m taking my lad and it’d be ace to see everyone buzzing.
  11. Same here. The likes of Frimpong and say Kerkez would do loads to change it. PSG made us look very one paced.
  12. Wirtz interest doesn’t seem at all likely to come to anything to me. His dad supports Bayern, he is said to like the idea of playing in Spain and Man City would pay more in wages. Got to be fourth or fifth on his list in terms of where he’d go. We don’t seem to have the pull/will/money to operate at the top of the market with other rich or successful clubs. We’ll be left holding our dicks again.
  13. They’ve absolutely perfected selling fringe youth players for good money. Seems like half the league has played for them or their youth sides.
  14. He makes loads of sense though. We have a good young right back who has sone question marks injury wise, and Salah who inevitably can’t play every game and needs cover. There probably aren’t many lads out there who can do a decent go of both.
  15. Abu Dhabi will have offered Wirtz’s Mum a hefty contract as an underwater welding consultant. This’ll offset young Florian’s minimum wage. Unrelated though the two are.
  16. Wirtz? Nah we don’t dine at that table. A large fee? Sure. A large wage? Sure. But not both at the same time and certainly not with competition from other big clubs.
  17. We cannot keep losing footballers to those d****eads. Anyone under 30 and with a year left should be given an ultimatum. Sign a new deal or, failing that, a years extension on the same terms whilst an improved deal is discussed. I couldn’t give a s*** if we relegate him or others to the reserves even to our own short term detriment. Let them lose a year of their careers. Enough of d****eads stringing us along.
  18. It is going to sound absurd but for large parts of a lot of games we haven’t been very good this season. More than i’d expect for a title winning side in any case. To win the league doing that is mental. Yeah it sounds daft but how many truly comfortable 90 minutes have we had?
  19. Nunez guaranteed to leave. Elliot, Tsimikas, Gomez and Doak likely. Jota possible and I reckon Chiesa will be a loan. Outside chance of Diaz given it’s new contact time or sale. Bajcetic probably elsewhere on load again too. Morton seems like a lad who will just get loaned until he’s in his late 20s. Phillips will still be on our books in 2040.
  20. I don’t think we’ve been in for him since Gravenberch showed what he can do. He would likely have gone to them with a straight choice anyway with the Basque links.
