    Nonsense!

The problem with that is that training ≠ matches when it comes to the strain on athletes. This isn't like in Football Manager where you let a player rest for 1 week and he's suddenly "Match Fit". Matches result in more tiny minute injuries to muscles, tendons and bones than training sessions. The reason Owen is always injured is not because he hasn't had enough rest between matches. It's because he plays matches too soon after recovery as well as having the recovery time of a 80 year old (is this where I put the regular Murph joke? ). "Resting" Torres now will keep him closer to 100% longer into the season rather than trying to rest him to get his levels up to 100% at the end of the season. At the end of the season you can run the players down because they will (usually) get several weeks off at the end of the season. Running a player down to 70-80% at the start of the season will make the player more susceptible to injuries as well as taking longer time to recover. It's as simple as that.

    Nonsense!

Actually it does....... Noticed how our players start getting cramps during the end of the season? There are a couple of major reasons for that. Which you with your degree in SS should be easily able to point out. Please do. signed by Resident Molecular Biologist ps. since we're dragging up our credentials to prove our point.

  11. 77 points for this week. New personal best! 10th for the time being. Which is about 110 places higher than last season. IT'S ON!!!! (another interesting bit.... three Icelanders in the top 25, pretty good!)

  13. It should be easy to stop. 1. Don't give him the time to flick the ball up. 2. If he has time to do that let him run into you. 3. If that fails use your shoulder to put him off balance. But maybe, it isn't that simple....
  14. One thing that has irritated me for a while now is that it seems like we always take off our wingers before putting Crouch on. That leads to two things: 1. No width with the only "opening" a long hoof up front to Crouch which 70-80% leads to absolutely nothing. 2. Even when we are able to play the ball around we don't have anyone on the wings to whip in crosses for Crouch to deal with. Yeah, I know. Crouch is one of the worst headers in the game but at least that would be a sign to the other team that we can penetrate their defence. Making them a bit more shaky. Birmingham got stronger and stronger yesterday because they saw that their tactics were working. They even started putting a few more men into attack during the end. This needs to get fixed soon. But then... Maybe this is our start of the season like the last two only this time we are only 4 points off the pace. Maybe we'll go on one of our runs come the end of October. But I doubt it. Seems to me we'll get more of the same (only with better players). Pisses me off.
  15. You sent this post by mail or pigeon then?
  16. I don't know if this has been mentioned but apparently Grant doesn't have the required education in couching to be in charge more than 12 weeks. He'll need the same exception as Roeder, Southgate and O'Neill.
  17. Fekking hell! I know football is a huge part of the british culture but that's just ridiculous. And what significant contribution? Buying up English talent to not play them (Scott Parker, Wayne Bridge, SWP, et al)? Bringing the game into disrepute by making up a few lies about a ref so that ref had to quit the game (due to death threats to his family)? Completely and utterly changing the balance in transfer fees and wages? : shakes head in disbelief :
  18. Top 4 won't change this season. Chelsea won't be real contenders but will still be up there with the rest. As for us..... who knows. But I think it's time to win the bloody thing.
  19. Great news! But..... is this correct (stolen from cfc.net) Head-to-head with "other Big Four Managers": Ferguson - played 10, won 5 drew 4 lost 1 Rafa------- played 16, won 7, drew 4, lost 5 Wenger----played 7, won 3, drew 4 lost 0 Jol----------played 8, won 5, drew 2, lost 1
  20. Rosenborg 1-0 up against Chelsea.
  21. I think Eyjólfur Sverrisson and Guðni Bergsson were probably better and should be ranked in the top 10 ever centrebacks............ (just want to be in on this Nordic game of complete and utter delusion about the quality of our players..... )

    Voronin

According to wikipedia: "The more Ukrainians that play in the national league, the more examples for the young generation. Let them learn from Shevchenko or Blokhin and not from some Zumba-Bumba whom they took off a tree, gave him two bananas and now he plays in the Ukrainian League. [...] I remember when I played football, if we lost a game it was not easy to walk the Kiev streets - there were many friends out there who could beat you up for that. But is there any sense in beating up a foreigner? Okay, you beat him up - next thing he does is pack up and go."
  24. Wouldn't surprise me if they appealed that red card. Didn't seem like much to me.
