That's possibly a valid point, but everyone seems to forget that the season immediately before he signed for us he scored 7 goals with his head - more than any other premiership player - and he can't do much more than score more headers than anyone else can he?
-
Thank God for a sensible comment on this at last! You've hit the nail on the head. He's vastly over-rated. Why else is Ferguson more than happy to let him go? Evra's no great shakes but Heinze can't get in ahead of him. All he does is foul incessantly and then plead with the ref with an inane grin on his face that makes me want to throw a brick at the telly. I can't see how he's any improvement at all and I'd be gutted if we signed the sly, cheating, fouling scumbag

With Arsenal crumbling, should we buy some of their youngsters?

In fact I think you'll find that it was only the usual knee-jerk merchants who couldn't differentiate a freak result between two scratch teams from the team's wider form and the season's likely outcome that said the season was over. They tend to be the same people who say we should play Fowler all the time and we should sign Shaun Wright-Phillips. You know the kind.
-
Is that with or without his penalties? Just asking like
-
We weren't fortunate at all. We got a comfortable draw away and deservedly won at home. What games were you watching? You make it sound like we were under the cosh and our defenders saved us. It was quite the opposite. The only surprise to me was that our winning margin over 2 legs wasn't greater. I can't remember exactly but I think they only had one shot on target in each game, but you make it sound like we were lucky

Yes, but let's not forget he used to play for the Chavs, so what else could he say?
-
There's nothing clever about it at all. Usually everyone in the ground apart from the referee sees his snidey, sneaky fouls. He's an appalling individual. Refs tend to bottle the big decision. Like when the extremely dirty Scholes of Man U gets away with bad fouls week in, week out. It needed a foreign ref to sort him out in the CL. He probably gets away with more shocking fouls than any other player
-
He's utter s****. No team with real aspirations of building a team to win titles and European trophies would seriously consider signing him. Biggest laugh I've had in ages
-
Rooney - yes that name rings a bell. Lots of hype and then went out like a light. Only scores against modest opposition these days and has failed to score against anyone for 3 years in both the Champions League or in a competitive international since he was 18 in fact. Clearly peaked too early!

Is it time for Robbie to be given a run?
Poolfrog replied to floyd the barber's topic in Liverpool FC
Please God no - not this again. He's too old, too slow - in short he's finished and he'll be drop-kicked out of the door at the end of the season. No team with serious aspirations for next season would have Fowler in their squad. But he'd do a decent job for someone like Sheffield Unted -
Not with his current team. He's in for a long wait. We're far more likely CL contenders
-
Before his injury Sissoko was our best player this season. People have short memories Yet I still think Man U are over-rated and wasn't surprised we gave them the run-around. They usually come up short against top teams. The difference with them and us is that they usually turn over lesser teams when we'll play the same teams off the park and lose to a soft goal. Don't be surprised if Man U come unstuck against Lille at home. They were very poor in the first leg. As I said - a very over-rated team, unfortunately in a league with not much depth. I'd be happy to get them in the CL if they overcome Lille
-
But we're third at the moment, so wahy are you sick about us being fourth?. The only way Arsenal (s**** yesterday against Wigan) will get above us at the end of the season is if Phil Dowd refs them a few more times. They're not going to get away with nailed-on penalties and then get offside goals awarded in their favour every week What odds do you think I can get for your absolute assertion we'll get fourth? I see you have no doubt and state it as fact. I want to have a wedge on your tip for the final table. I wish I could see the future too Yes but the post you replied to was from anfieldanfield. He's all over the forums like a rash when we lose - there's no escape from his negativity. If we win a couple of games he goes away and sulks
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember in fact that Man U did not in fact win there recently, contrary to what you say
-
Thanks - but I could have told you that for nothing about last September. He's done nothing to merit another contract
-
It's a bit late to start moaning about it now, as fans have been bringing flags from all over the place to Anfield for at least the 42 years I've been going there. If it makes the flag-bearer happy and they're not whacking some innocent bystander across the head with it, what's the problem? I think you should chill a bit. I think you'll find that the N Ireland flag is the legitimate flag of the province. References to the PLO are bloody ridiculous. As I've said elsewhere, flags have been part of the Kop tradition for decades and decades and if someone's offended by the sight of a flag, I suggest they need to get out a bit more as they might find stuff out there that's really worth worrying about
-
You obviously didn't see Arsenal lose to Sheffield United recently. All they did was hoof long balls for the last half-hour
-
I agree with what you say but in fact to be offside there have to be two players nearer the goal-line, not nearer the goal - the goal-line being the entire width of the pitch from corner flag to corner flag
-
Sky's own white line across the pitch thing after the game showed he was offside and the people in the studio said so
-
He's most definitely off. No way on God's green earth he'll get a contract extension
-
It's complete twaddle by the way, but thanks anyway It wasn't quite that innocent - no-one in England really gives a flying one about the Scottish football scene - it was to declare which side of the sectarian divide you were on
-
You're not going to get them anyway. Rafa has said categorically - as have the other top managers - that he won't be making big signings. All the top players are cup-tied for Europe, so all the big clubs do their main business in the summer
