This. Well in Lucas. What a week for the fella...best 4 seasons of his career are ahead of both him and us. Chewie

Exactly. It's like the world is inverted with them. Normally you make decisions with your head and those with your heart and most of the time the head wins. So many times I've looked at utd and reasoned they are on the wane...then my gut reminds me they keep on winning. Hate to say it but the man at the helm is a genius Chewie

You see this too i can agree with. I've never been an advocate of the theory that if we bring in one player another has to leave. Apart from the obvious financial restrictions one thing I felt hampered us was not bringing in another forward cos what would we do with Torres. The point is simply that in every area of the pitch we should be looking to improve and if Lucas is part of that, great. If he moves on cos we seriously improve both in quality and depth in that area of the pitch then I'll say a huge thank you to the lad and wish him all the best. There is a list of players well ahead of Lucas who fall into the category of needing to be moved on... Lucas is deffo not in that category and I too think we will get 4 great consistent years out of him between 24-28... I also really liked that interview. We need more intelligence on the pitch and he seems to have that about him. Top pro who is really starting to shine and the better the opposition the better he plays. Chewie

I really like the guy. How he handles himself off the pitch, how he has grown on it. I think he has a big future here and should be offered an extension BUT only if our summer plans don't bring in someone better. I think this is where the club is at and in this moment I think it is right. Everyone is playing for their future and those who will be a part of the next 2-4 seasons will stay alongside those who get brought in. This is absolutely nothing against Lucas or any other player. If we get a better player in any position we take em (in order of course of the positions that need filling first). More than happy to keep Lucas but if a seriously better upgrade is out there then fair enough.. Chewie

he'll only be born half way thru... but much to expect the new Youth Academy to have on the pitch that quickly... gettin me coat Chewie

The Liverpool way is quite simple for me...it's to be the best team in England and winning European cups. After that everything else is easy. Attracting players is easy, continuity of management follows. Doing things 'right' is much easier when youre the champions. There was no Liverpool way pre-shanks...what happened was that the man made us the best and Sir Bob made us legends. That's the Liverpool way. Everything else should be geared to make that happen. Period. There is no mythical Liverpool way that is not totally derivative from our period in history as the best. That's what matters to me and is why the Liverpool way was totally vindicated in getting rid of roy. Incidentally, to be the best means we are the best on and off the pitch, but the latter is also much easier when the first 11 is winning... Win the league, go back and repeat that again and again, call it your bread and butter, the thing you live for... That's the Liverpool way. Chewie

Anyone got a link to the audio of the song (with lyrics of course !) Chewie

it's an unintentional yet growing debate... http://www.ynwa.tv/forum/index.php?showtopic=152048 Chewie

I know I know I know I know.... Was asking the question...not suggesting the option... Wondering if it's even featured on any agenda anywhere!!! Chewie

Has it ever been mooted to move into woodison for one season and get the whole thing redeveloped in one go? Just asking as I've no idea if that's feasible / desirable / ever been discussed... Chewie

not every post. I ceased in protest at the regimes of both G&H and Woy... I believe this action played a significant role in their departures... Liberation brought back my name chewie

Woh...what a lot of work we've got to do keep: reina, Kelly, gerrard, Lucas, meireles, suarez, Carroll get rid: agger (doesn't play cos of injuries), skrtl, maxi, cole, n'gog, poulsen, kuyt Keep if we can't get better cos we can't change everyone: carra, johnson, spearing, shelvey... Tis that bad chewie

Kenny just looked like hr wasn't surprised n'gog missed

the amazing thing about the Barnes video is the state of the pitches he worked his magic on...what on earth would he have been like on today's bowling greens!! a joy to behold... Chewie oh...Istanbul...tears...

agree...just wonder if the right person should arrive in sept not June. Think there is enough of what you've described to manage the summer but new and right man will be needed... Ayre will still have his role comolli has a clear football remit the manager will always gave his say most chairmen know the wisdom of having a Chief to run things... We'll still get one...just not sure if we want one now unless he's well up to speed with our short term plans chewie

fair enough.,.can the title be changed tho!!! Fat Dunk and The Insider those were the days Chewie

we'll need one. We should care. We won't run on the goodwill of kenny and the first wave of interest from new owners who need to play catch up forever... Contracts sponsorship premier league representation and on it goes we'll need one.we should care chewie

Any word yet on a new CEO? Who's doing the day to day stuff now do ya reckon? Really would love it if we could have most of our summer organised before mid July at latest... Surely new guy would be a big part of that rather than holding it back cos he's not appointed or only just appointed?!? Chewie

Is there any chance this thread can be closed? It ain't even about Lucas anymore yet hangs around the top 6 threads and seems like the guy gets deified or damned depending on which way any particular game has gone. I say it's now time to take the microscopic analysis off this guy and let's all respect the way he has handled himself throughout his time here...even if no doubt people will differ in their views. My view is he has a place in our future as part of a much improved squad...in fact the better the standard on the pitch the more capable he looks.. Anyway, let's cut the kid some slack ...cease the thread chewie

These are hard nights. No real tv or radio interest of great merit, no tension in the watching..contrast with last night and spuds v Milan... Hate to say it but it's nights like these that mean 'professionals' like pepe think about moving on... Champs league really is becoming the no 1 priority ain't it.. tis all gonna take time :-( chewie

Hated the way carragher wouldn't even say rafa's name on 5live this am (interview around 9am). Just spoke about how difficult it was for Roy with a large spansh contingent under 'the previous manager'... the only thing he should learn from that idiot Neville is that chuckle said it'd be difficult to manage the scum cos he's been a fan.. carras been a legend and no doubt will still have great days - hopefully today - but the future should be planned with a view to phasing him out. Would not be unhappy if he became like Sami, good to have for organisation and to play a limited number of games, but with very definite starting centre halfs in the queue before him... Chewie

actually that would be funny as a chant for the King!! Give him the national anthem!!! Chewie

tis only natural... please proceed... Chewie

two of me...there can't be! Did u never watch revenge of the sith...only one chewie survived and his name ain't Fred! YNWA Chewie

well, if that's true then I'm bunking off here from May and I'll be back around the end of August... reality's no fun whatsoever Chewie
