  1. Never saw it. But the bogs were so bad you would avoid them at almost all costs, so I can believe it. But it can't have been that widespread from 72 to the early 90s, my years standing there. People did piss up at the back and on the steps down behind, which looked like waterfalls after half time. In those days I was younger and had much more control over my bladder. I didn't drink nearly as much either. I don't think we should romanticize the past, because there were dangers that wouldn't be tolerated now. But the atmosphere was a LOT better then. Pennies to get in (no advance tickets needed, no credit cards, no booking fees, no season ticket necessary) and we won all but a couple of games a season at home. I used to turn up what seemed like HOURS before the game just to feel it all building up and sing, sing, sing.
  2. Sutty, Murph, Huyton Red, Raould. All correct. There just is no comparison. Debate over. Now I can stop smiling at the memories and go back to feeling miserable about our likely 'strikers' Dirk Kuyt and Andriy Voronin.

    Carragher

It might comfort people to think that Carra's problem is other people (the post above manages to blame every other defensive player) but the truth is he's part of the problem. I'm going to look for a bookie that give odds on him conceding penalties. Because there's one coming round again, very soon.
  4. I am not convinced we are out of the title race. I think we will improve. But I do think Rafa is showing a "f*** you' attitude to everyone. How Kuyt gets a game for us I have no idea. Voronin has at least been 'rested' today, but Kuyt was - yet again - a willing donkey. A really really bad buy. No two ways. And Carra is going to give away another penalty very soon. He's become a liability, shouting at everyone else when he's playing badly, generally past it (catching up with Sammi). The worst thing for me was that before the game I already knew how many goals we would score tonight unless we got a penalty. And like the lover who will not see that she's being unfaithful, I still went along to be humiliated.

    Dirk Kuyt

Which must explain why your nom de plume is Cisse

    Carragher

I know I will be howled down for saying it, but he's been making the wrong decision regularly this season. Wrestling with McFadden when WE had the ball, gave them a free kick while we were chasing three points. Then, wrestling again, three yards out with ten seconds left. It was a dead-on penalty. We got really lucky today and Carra is in danger of becoming more of a hindrance than a help. Too inconsistent this season and not using his head.
  7. I don't have the first idea why people waste their time talking about Kewell as if he is ever going to be part of this Liverpool. Why not post about something relevant?

    Voronin

Come on, let's get this on to a second page at least. This might help. The most obvious difference between him and Kuyt is he scores goals ....
  9. We haven't always been pretty under Rafa's management. I am really delighted by Schuster's remarks. Top teams are scared of us.
  10. I live near Bury. Anyone on that side of Manchester is welcome at the Hare and Hounds, Holcombe Brook. The landlord is from Yorkshire but supports Liverpool. There's always a few of us in there and every, but every, Liverpool game is shown.
  11. Why do we, Man U real etc go to the far east and all points of the compass? Oh, I can't even be bothered with this one. You're so wrong.
  12. Utter nonsense
  13. God, have I missed this kind of thing this last few days ....
  14. I heard the young Italian wanted another year here. Did that not work out?

    Kewell

I keep seeing people talking about buying someone as back-up for Kewell. It really surprises me. What do you all see in him? He is rarely fit, and when he is he doesn't do anything, (OK, we can all remember the odd spectacular volley - do we remember the anonymous games, the mis***s etc). He has never done it for us for even a whole 90 minutes in my recollection. We all know we need top strikers and wide men, but Kewell... Someone please explain to me. Does anyone else feel strangely calm this morning (or am I just in denial?)
  16. I was ashamed of our players. I can't believe that they can play for Liverpool on those wages and still not be bothered. If the manager was behind it, then he still has something to learn about what Liverpool expects. FA and League cup games are one thing, the championship is another.

    Mascherano

I thought he was fantastic for a man who hasn't had a game for months. He tackled well and he really set things up well once he had won the ball. Easy debut, yes, but with matches will come sharpness. I don't usually get so excited after one game. On the other hand, Kuyt ...... If work-rate was worth £10m he would be a bargain....but at £10m it's goals that matter.
  18. You can get 28/1 with Coral.

    Kuyt

Dear Leo No. 8, Well, glad to see I elicited a response. "It was just one of those days". As some others have noted, we have had quite a few of those days, where we have dominated teams and lost. It's the difference between challenging for the title and not. You don't seem to mind these blips. Also, I said Kuyt was part of the problem. Yes, other parts include Crouch and Bellamy. We spent big on a top-class goalscorer last summer, remember. And Bellamy. And the summer before on Crouch. Do we have to spend the same or more every summer when the top-class goalscorer turns out to be a limited player with a fantastic work-rate? The comparison I saw someone make with Rush was just painful. It's the difference between then and now. Just look at our 'goals for' column compared with the team that's going to win the league. Yours sincerely, Moron.

    Kuyt

Lots of huff and puff, but he's part of the problem.
  21. Chill pill folks. Who cares?
  22. Stop straining, you'll make a mess on your keyboard. I think some of us are being a bit too sensitive. Seems to me that Winter actually appreciates what makes this different from Man U or Chelsea. Lighten up, folks.
  23. Best laugh I've had this week. Thanks for taking my mind off DIC and co.
  24. On the TV you saw Mourinho snap and turn round to SWP and tell him to get on. He was mad as hell with Robben. Drogba has turned into a great stiker and their best player by a street. He's not diving so much, either. But the weirdest thing is, he is the only one they have who plays like he cares for Chelsea, God knows why he should. I have started having a sneaking respect for him. Of all those egos, he is the only one who seems to think it would be a good idea to work his nuts off for all that loot they give them.
