  1. f*** me it’s true and now I can’t unthink it. Also, my wife loves Tayto.
  2. They’re not weird, they’re horrible. Don’t go.
  3. And he’s added a load of timber in recent years.
  4. I have assumed for weeks now that Our Dick and Howe are in touch all the time about it.
  5. Not sure which planet this epistle comes from.
  6. Just for some relief from the endless breath-holding over Isak, I wonder whether anyone else feels we still haven’t solved what I shall call the ‘Zubimendi problem’. I was thrilled, like everyone else, at Gravenberch’s performances in the first half of last season but I fear that physically he isn’t the strong man we have missed since Fabinho left. There’s lots of talk about centre forward and centre half but I have been quite surprised this summer that nobody’s talking about the midfield.
  7. Only hit top form for a brief period around Christmas. Ah b******s. You got there first.
  8. Fret not. I’m sure there’s many on here ready and willing with one to one etiquette tutorials .
  9. Re barcodes: we’re not a domestic rival.
  10. I prefer to think what a fantastic line-up we have.
  11. It was blatantly obvious he took the sulk because he was too stupid to understand what he was being asked to do. Ended up jogging aimlessly around.
  12. I thought that was a reply to the previous post that had gone over my head.
  13. Edward’s isn’t a journalist. He’s PR man for PIF and his contacts there have used him as such all summer. They’re just haggling over price now.
  14. Yes; pretty much my feelings too.
  15. Ooh, they’re all at it now. True; I’ve had to retire the plucky-underdogs-only-spending-what-we-earn-through-honest-graft narrative. For now.
  16. They are the worst, objectively. When I think about worst-case scenarios, a Chelsea v Man U European Cup final always seems like the ultimate evil. But even then I know the (reluctant, very reluctant) outcome I want.
  17. A lot of the players being mentioned were less than top price when we bought them - often a result of desperation, of poor transfer strategy and of our diminished status in the not-too-distant past. Darwin was bought for top money as a major piece of the jigsaw. Put Andy Caroll in the team Darwin has played in and I don’t think he would have been any worse. What I couldn’t stand with Nunez was the wandering aimlessly around the pitch feeling sorry for himself. There was much too much of that.
  18. Proud to have opened this can, my major contribution to the forum in all these years. interested by some of the other nominations. Here’s some thoughts: Thiago. Complete waste of time. Show pony, sick-note etc. Clough: all forgiven for that comeback against Utd. Aquilani, Borini: both looked really classy in Italy. I have no explanation for their dismal performances here Markovic: who? Keita: scored against Utd in that game. The 90s: We could no longer choose the best. We were just buying anyone we could get who had made a name elsewhere. No plan, no vision. Lots of candidates from that period. Dean Saunders. Agree with @Sir Tokyo Sexwale he was pretty bad. (I also didn’t really think Aldridge was fit to lace up Rushie’s boots). Karius didn’t play enough to be a candidate Andy Carroll stands out as the strongest other candidate A complete waste of time and money (signed by Kenny, I think). But I don't think we had three whole years hoping against hope that the penny might drop.
  19. Yeah, I expect him to move for about €10m to a middling Spanish side like Villarreal. I don’t wish him anything; I’m just grateful we don’t have to put up with him any more. The worst ‘full price’ signing I’ve seen in my 55 years watching us. Into offside positions.
  20. You mean if he had been a decent striker. Good movement = constantly running offside.
