  1. It’s fair enough to have a moan but the point of bringing on Gomez for Wirtz is to put Dom back in the midfield. Saying the manager hasn’t a clue shows you haven’t a clue. The problem was Wirtz.
  2. Once I saw the first long throw I was almost resigned to that happening.
  3. Istanbul? Why?
  4. In terms of natural ability he’s up there with our best. I keep watching the second goal. That touch.
  5. Yes, at today’s prices and with that length of contract he has to be valued at twice as much. If he carries on as he has under Slot then more likely next summer we double his pay and add a couple of years to his deal.
  6. You’d think he could do better, money he’s on.
  7. Pray that he doesn’t do an ACL. He’ll miss most of the season.
  8. Yes, Arsenal goal difference will be much improved.
  9. Good précis.
  10. As I said, it’s a stunning example of Starmer’s statesmanship and the new era of rapprochement with France; Ibou goes to Madrid for nothing and Guehi comes here for nothing; one in, one out.
  11. Bloody hell, I feel like I’m ten years old. Can not wait to see Isak playing for us. I always hate international breaks but this has been pure torture.
  12. I feel relaxed about this kind of thing. I don’t doubt Newcastle fans think we’re ‘entitled’, probably Palace too. There’s a food chain and Real Madrid are at the top of it. We are nearer than Newcastle, obviously. The status thing shifts over time but it’s not that long ago Mason Mount was choosing Man U over us. Mason f***ing Mount. If players see greener grass elsewhere that’s their look-out or prerogative. Rushie once left. Suarez left, etc etc. TAA left. If Ibou leaves - and I would rather he didn’t - then we’ll still be here. I want to stuff Real Madrid because they’re an obstacle to world domination, not because I have a chip on my shoulder about them poaching our players.
  13. Don’t exactly know why, but that makes me think Ibou is leaving for nothing next summer. It’s a UK/France thing; one in one out.
  14. Yeah, I just remember seeing his name among the scorers as I was starting to get interested, during the period of transition from Hunt/St John to Keegan/Toshack. RIP.
  15. Olise being mentioned. Why weren’t we talking about him when he was at Palace? I thought he was fantastic and would happily have taken him then.
  16. Fair enough this once.
  17. Addji Keaninkin Marc-Israel Guéhi to be precise.
  18. Yes, that’ll be the way they see it. On my recent trips to ‘toontastic’ (thank f*** that’s over) I’ve noticed lots of ‘cartel’ talk, as though us and the Mancs were conspiring together to exclude plucky little underdogs like Newcastle. No notion that we (and in all fairness the mancs too) are where we are in the footie food chain because we’ve won lots and lots and lots over the years, building worldwide followings and very big revenue compared with them. There’s a nasty, self-pitying Farage-ist feel about these chip-on-the-shoulder clubs. One perspective the whole business has reinforced for me is not to worry when TAA stuff happens. We shall be here whoever plays for us.
  19. What is outrageous is not that they haven’t sold him to us. That’s up to them. It’s that they’ve given him to believe right until this evening that they would. They’ve treated him like s***.
  20. Guéhi wants to be humble, dutiful and serve god. Isak wants to be a superstar.
  21. I wouldn’t go back for him. Lots more fish. Well, some.
  22. Doué, obvs.
  23. Beautiful. Opening lines of a state of the union address.
