Is it wise having breakfast before training though?
-
No more wingers please. A Arbeola-equivalent on the left side would be great for us.
-
fecking hell we are a hard bunch to please are we - Is there any winger out there good enough for us? I thought the Arsenal clip gave a realistic account of what we can expect of him when he ISNT playing well and it wasnt all too bad. You might be the best winger in the world but you will never to able to beat defenders at will every single game. There will be times you are just not on form that day or the refs just have something against you. What such players do is draw 2-3 defenders round them, freeing up players in the middle. That by itself is already a benefit of having him in the team, you dont need to be constantly dribbling past defenders.

What other signings do we need?
windy city red replied to Duncan Disorderly 's topic in Liverpool FC
Think we just need one more player - a really good winger, able to play either right or left equally well. Whether its Simao, Quaresma, or Mancini, it doesn' really matter as all of them are good in their own ways. We definitely dont need another more strikers, in fact, with the number of midfield players we have, I think we are one too many (imo of course). If Sami leaves, it would be great if we could get a Arbeola-left-footed equivalent for the left-back/center-back spot, but its not an immediate concern. JAR/Sami will do for now. -
As in seriously, or are you making that up? We bought ONE player above 20M, I dont even want to count how many players they have in that price range.
-
Don't worry about us, 90210, you should be spend more time worrying about when your team will get to a CL final let alone win it.
-
Not setting your sights too high eh? About time really. Whenever we get a set piece outside the penalty box, it's almost as good as giving the ball back to opponent immediately and not taking the kick at all.
-
IF true and he joins, will he be the first asian to play for liverpool?
-
well, its about time we had one of those...
-
Isnt there someone else besides Garcia we can offer? Gonna miss that guy...
-
I was just about to say Henry..

Which part is speculation? the part with everton planning to sign ibanez or us potentially stealing the deal?
-
Interesting point of view. So assuming that we have no takers for Bellamy, Rafa might actually settle for 3 strikers to rotate on that one position?

Summer signings / gossip thread - other teams
windy city red replied to Benitez 's topic in General Football Discussion
25m euros for a player like him is not too bad at all. It would be great if he joined us, we could do with a player like him. -
Fecking hell 90210, top post - it gave me a good laugh this morning. I havent read the entire thread but of the two, Anderson is one scary player. I would describe him as a placcy who plays in the middle of the park in the final third, but strong, just as skillful, and his shots pack a punch. If Lucas is just as good as him, I will be delighted. It will be interesting to see how these two develop in the league.

I think he does, Barca away, Charity shield? Hes just not consistent enough to be in the first team constantly but is an extremely valuable squad member. There are few players out there who are like him. True, but at the same time, they didnt contribute anything significant too, probably Gonzalez's goal for the qualifiers, but thats it. Every player is going to have a time in their career when they are not going to play well and nothing's going for them (injury, form etc;) When its Mascherano's turn, are we going to say sell him too?
-
I hope he stays. Mascherano is not going to be playing every single game and I just got this feeling that Alonso's going to head home within the next 2 seasons. I think the lack of quality in his passing is exaggerated a little, there are days when stevie g's passing is off and we hardly comment on it. When gonzalez, zenden and riise have their bad days, they are even worse.
-
The next placcy, is that too much to ask? Whenever I have seen Malouda play on TV (albeit world cup and a few league games), he looks to me like a steady/consistent performer who seldom gives the ball away needlessly. Fast but I dont think hes much of a dribbler. Ambivalent to whether we get him or not. Just read some comments and as Leo said, how people say he "lacks pace" is baffling.

Isn?t bellamy ?proven premiership material?? He was devastating at Blackburn and I thought we got an absolute steal. I know I am not being very constructive here but I just hope the next striker brought in is able to adapt well to the manager?s rotation policy and how Rafa wants his strikers to play. I cant help but feel that our strikers are asked to do so much that they lose abit of their attacking instinct.
-
Wow that was quick. Not that its totally unexpected but I thought he would stay for one more season given how much we wanted to get him. He tried his best whenever he was on the pitch though, but he tends to be too hard on himself and that messed up his confidence. Like Moro, he will probably do much better in Spain.

Essien - but midfield is not one area we need now. I am having second thoughts about Robben over Cole because hes utterly pathetic at riding through challenges. Garcia, who is smaller in size has probably more mettle than him Essien - but midfield is not one area we need now. Champions League 3rd/4th Place Play-off
windy city red replied to a topic in General Football Discussion
First off, I dont think Giggs's effort is a goal. Watching the replay, Cech saved the initial effort and got pushed into goal by Giggs who was sliding into him. If anything, it would be a foul from Giggs's. I thought Pie boy played well - his display of strength on the ball today was quite remarkable. how alan smith is playing on that team is beyond me - he loses the ball and tries to win the ball back with those ridiculous tackles. He makes up for his utter lack of ability with "passion". I sometimes wish we would go for Robben, but it looks like hes made of glass and falls apart when tackled heavily. His pace and direct style of play would come in very handy. -
"Rooney scores 2 goals to barely clinch victory for Man Utd" OR "Man Utd wins the first-leg semi-final tie with a 3-2 aggregate, Rooney scoring a last-min goal" Knowing if away goals were scored is quite important. The former headline suggests none were scored, at least to me.
-
Was in the gym this morning and the soccer headline on Channel Newsasia was "Rooney scores 2 goals to clinch victory". I kept thinking Man Utd won 2-0 until I saw the real score sometime later. Some of the newspapers in Singapore werent any better. How disappointing it is to leave the country for seven years and finally return to see that the Man Utd lovefest has grown exponentially.
