No. He'll get stick rightly because he's yet to prove he can cut it at this level. And tonight he was atrocious.

Cahill at Bolton could be an option?
-
ludicrous play the best XI. IIRC we were 2-0 down last season, and we didn't win so we shouldn't take this one for granted, even if they are a sack of s****.
-
Whatever they're paying you GW it isn't enough
-
I can see our £20m signing next summer being a centre back (assuming Rafa is given that much to spend).
-
And the match where Greenwood picked 7 Liverpool players (well 7 who had won the European cup) was a 0-0 draw with Switzerland Clemence Neal Cherry McDermott Watson Hughes Keegan Channon Francis T. Kennedy Callaghan
-
Cherry played in midfield when England lost in Rome 2-0 in 76 in a World Cup qualifier. Revie was slated for it in the press. The team Clemence Clement Mills Greenhoff McFarland Hughes Keegan Channon Bowles Cherry Brooking
-
Great player Brooking and a gentleman too, like Callaghan

I'd ban mobile phones from football grounds, and gigs for that matter
-
Yep - Carra's organising abilities stood out last night, which is just as well as Skertl looked a bit all over the place
-
I thought he won the ball well last night but was also caught in possession several times. And his passing lacked any thrust or penetration.

Aren't you looking to trip him up rather than answers necessarily. we know the true answer = paying off debt surely we want Purslow to say something untenable that contradicts his carefully manufactured PR campaign, thereby highlighting to people, the media, etc that we are being lied to. the questions SOS are putting need to be savvy and thought through. treat it like you are a barrister cross examining a witness. lead Purslow into saying something which shows the G&H regime up for what it is. -
Where else would Rafa go right now? Barca? Madrid? Inter? All the top jobs are stitched up for the time being. I can see him going to Madrid next summer if Pelligrini doesn't win either La Liga or the Champions League this season, and things don't get any better here...but if he does he'll be going several years before he wants to. He would love to be the man to win Number 19. He's proud and he's up for a challenge. I realy don't think he wants to leave until he's won the title here, and he loves the club.

Correct. Shilton arguably cost us appearing in 2 world cup finals, well a semi in 86 against belgium

I thought Johnson was outstanding going forward on Weds. The piece of skill for the third goal was really high quality - the way he got his foot round the ball and pulled it back from a tight angle - it was a beautiful ball. He was argualy partly at fault for the goal - he might have prevented the cross - but both centre halves were marking no-one, and although Green made an excellent first save he did poorly with the second shot. And Cole was mainly responsible for the almost-penalty, with a dismal bit of defending. So, in short all the back 5 made the odd error on Weds, Johnson no more than the others.

I think he's injured Mike. Saying that, I don't think he'll make it here
-
This is correct. In fact by being continuously injured/rubbish he failed to do what he was brought into do - cover right back. So when we needed cover eg Middlesbrough last year we couldn't rely on him. His contribution to Liverpool is in minus figures. And I hate all this he was brought in on a free nonsense. No such thing as free. Did he geta signing on fee? He is earning a wage? Is he taking up a place in the squad that could be better served by someone else? A terrible signing.
-
£15m seems a bit steep for Ruud...
-
It's a ridiculous post. Lucas is ok, no more, no less - a squad player that you bring in if you have a short term injury or want to rest someone, etc. He isn't good enough to be first choice at a club that wants to win the title.
-
Campbell's wage demands, signing on fee etc would have been massive - I'm sure he'd have taken a 1 or 2 year deal at Liverpool, but no way we could afford it
-
Fair point, but there's a fine line there, and coming from the bloke who I seem to recall demanded an apology for being proved 'right' from people on the forum for something or other, I'm not sure that level of self awareness is there. anyway on the matter in hand, I think Lucas is actually one of those players that is going to divide opinion a bit - some of what he does best is the hidden stuff, the unselfish stuff. It took a while for people to start rating Fletcher for example. On the debit side, he does need to impose himself more, he doesn't score enough, and given his lack of pace, he needs to move the ball quicker a la xabi on the credit side a lot of areas of his game seem to be improving, he looks to have a good engine, and a good footballing brain It's still early days - let's see where he is after a prolonged run in the side. I imagine even Rafa is probably not 100% sure yet if Lucas is going to develop into a regular first XI player

You really are condescending and arrogant to a level that kazier could only dream of.

From the Guardian today - Greece defender Sotiris Kyrgiakos has claimed he is set for a move to Liverpool from AEK Athens - however his club say there is no agreement in place. Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez has been in the market for a centre-back after Sami Hyypia departed the club in the summer, and that search has been intensified following injuries to Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger which mean youngster Daniel Ayala may partner Jamie Carragher for tonight's visit of Stoke. Liverpool are thought to have bid £1.5m for the 30-year-old former Rangers player and Kyrgiakos has confirmed that contact has been made. "I would like to inform the fans of AEK that on Monday night I received an offer from Liverpool, an offer which I have accepted," he said on his personal website. "I understand this has come at the worst possible time ahead of the crucial games for qualification to the Europa League, but the fact that I will play for Liverpool is like a qualification in itself for me. I have taken my final decision which was accepted by the president and the coach." AEK have denied that a deal is in place. "At this moment there is no final agreement between AEK and Liverpool FC," a club statement said.

it really is depressing this. We could have kept Arbeloa for another year for more or less the same we are spending on this bloke now
