  1. Didn't he also come out and say he was due to sign for us in the summer until Kenny was sacked?
  2. I heard it was a Happy Mondays covers band. Sturridge took the Bez role.
  3. That is a good article. Like this bit: The scale of this club was brought home to the players when we went to Singapore prior to Christmas. The support Liverpool has in the Far East is amazing. We took our U19s yet there were thousands at the airport to greet us. They even had banners with Adam Morgan's name on them. Keen.
  4. Even better is the same guy but with some nifty animations:
  5. Milan didn't think so though - they barely used him in his last season there and let him go as they thought he was past it.
  6. He's not quite as old - but Milan not using Pirlo and letting him go to Juventus is one that springs to mind
  7. Can't see it happening, but As is saying Villa could come here in the Summer: http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2012/12/16/primera/1355616774_384479.html
  8. Didn't it come out recently that he was due to sign for us, but it fell through, and he went to Juventus instead? Shame...
  9. Nah, it's fine. Cole is better than Messi.
  10. Nathan Dyer saying some positive things about Rodgers here, his man-management in particular: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/nov/24/nathan-dyer-brendan-rodgers-swansea-city
  11. Nice interview with Suso here - he does say all the right things, and seems to be genuinely thrilled with how things are going for him this year: http://futbol.as.com/futbol/2012/11/17/internacional/1353116793_353817.html Mentions that he thought we did need a change, in terms of bringing through youth players. Also says it's a very supportive dressing room.
  12. That must have been some sort of 'even the teams' up tactic. Or maybe it was like school playground matches and they were the two last picks.
  13. Will be interesting to see if he starts today. The Guardian pointing out this is quite a significant selection for Rodgers: Jonjo Shelvey has shown signs of blossoming into an important player for Liverpool, boasting power and penetration as well as a touch of unpredictability. However, while he was suspended following his unnecessary red card against Manchester United, Nuri Sahin came in and demonstrated real class and, like Shelvey, a much-needed goal threat. But Sahin was subdued against Stoke in the last outing. In the long term Shelvey just might be the replacement for Steven Gerrad; in the short term, however, Gerrard, like Joe Allen, seems a certain starter for Liverpool so Shelvey and Sahin are duking it out for the remaining central midfield berth. Brendan Rodgers' choice against Reading – and the subsequent performance of whoever he plumps for – will be intriguing. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/oct/19/ten-things-premier-league-gareth-bale Personally, much as I like Shelvey, I'd love to Sahin given a good run of games now. If anything, I'd play both, and push Gerrard to wide right of a front 3.
  14. Don't. Now's not the time. Amazing second goal, most enjoyable match in quite a while.
  15. Assuming we do sell - if Sunderland have had £12.5m turned down for Fletcher from a relegated team, surely we can hold out for more than 12 for an England international.
  16. It's saying the deal will be completed once the Modric deal is sealed - which might explain why nothing has been settled so far this week. As.com have said Monday for the Modric deal. So we need Luka to hurry up and sign, or more likely Levy to accept Madrid's offer.
  17. AS (Madrid-based) is running that Ian Ayre has travelled to Spain to close a deal for Sahin, and also mentions Tello. They have a habit of running stories based on the English press, but they don't mention a source here, so could be a new bit of info from them. http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/liverpool-viajo-espana-cerrar-cesion/20120814dasdaiftb_21/Tes
  18. That all would be great. Just can't see Adam fitting in a Roger's midfield. I reckon Henderson will get used a lot too.
  19. Definitely best forgetting that one (except perhaps that it introduced us to Mr Benitez - and I remember they were even better at Anfield)
  20. Pretty sure Diao was at centre-back away to Rafa's Valencia. One of the most one-sided (and depressing) 2-0s I can remember.
  21. Haha, didn't see that! And I thought I had a clever point and all...
  22. Here's another way of looking at the Carroll situation. Imagine the season he had last year was played out at Newcastle rather than here: i.e. - looking terrible for most of the year, with a couple of terrific performances at the end, and a goal at the Euros. And now he's available for £15m. How many people would be saying we should go for him at that price? Personally - I would say that at that price he might be worth a punt. On the other hand, I could quite understand why if I was manager and had a quick passing game in mind, I would not even consider him an option - and I'm guessing that's the choice AR is making.
  23. Article in the FT rates him as the 6th best manager in England over the past 30 years or so, based on statistical analysis of player wages at the clubs. An interesting approach, and good to see Rafa scoring so well (and Bob Paisley in 1st too!) Mind you - the study is somewhat undermined by the appearance of David O'Leary in the top 20... http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/f340caae-47cd-11e1-b646-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1mdawTewk
  24. Linked with Inigo Martinez of Bilbao: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Liverpool-linked-with-Inigo-Martinez-of-Real-Socieded-article841831.html Worth checking his Youtube clips, including one from his own half, plus the most spectacular OG ever. Love the last line of the article: "Martinez has a clause in his contract, which runs until June 2015, which says he can go if they receive a £28million offer. However Sociedad would let him go for £20m or £17m plus a player." So just throw in any player, the fee automatically goes down £3m. Nice. Do we still have El Zhar?
  25. Apparently Snoop is his nickname in the squad, obviously some Wire fans in the team... Quality thread.
