  1. Ok. To say he was "comical" is wrong, fair enough. But if he was "brilliant" then so am I and everyone I know. He was average at the very, VERY best. Nice Hairstyle though. If you like prog-rock.
  2. You lucky sod. It's a weird choice, I admit, but if I was to pick a hero from ANY decade, he'd be the one for me. I half remember him having a goal dissalowed in the second half of the Cup Final in '74 (I was 11 at the time), and I was SO angry with the Ref and his pint of Guiness socks and side parting. I was a left-back when I started playing juniors football around that time and Alec was always who I imagined myself to be when I played.

  7. Spot on. Close the thread. Do it now.
  8. Hopefully, Angry Djibril = Goals Djibril just like in the Super Cup Final in Monaco.
  9. .... all of which is pretty fair. All i was trying to do ( not enitrely successfully ) was to say to people "Don't overreact, immediately, to a defeat - Criticise if you will, but be constructive - also consider closely the reasons, and suggest your solutions". Ironic, yes - because this is what I did a year or more ago, although to be fair I was reacting to MANY bad results all strung pretty closely together. But this was the advice I was given by a few posters on here last February, so I was trying to pass it on. This is MILES ahead of any other LFC forum out there. I've tried most of them, and some (we all know which one specifically) are embarrassingly bad. What this forum has, about 95% of the time, is intelligent debate - even when people dissagree. I wouldn't want it to turn into a hybrid of one of our "competitors". I wasn't flying off the deep end - at least in my original post. Your response pissed me off, yes - but hey we've both stated our points, so that's cool. I ain't gonna mention it again.
  10. Shout. Pairing him with "neu enforcer de France" Bruno Cheyrou in the middle of the park would be ideal AND would give Stevie and Xabi a rest at the same time. Possibly permanently.
  11. Yes. All of them have to audition for female parts in "Dallas The Movie".
  12. The last time I vehemently criticised the team, manger, tactics and so on was over a year ago - WELL before the Leverkusen last 16 game. A number of intelligent contributors on here asked me to calm down and to start making sensible, balanced comments. I thanked them for that then, and I do so again, now. Despite the fact we suffered quite a few defeats after mid February last year, I didn't go off the deep end like the t*** that I was earlier in the season. All I'm asking with THIS post is that people going off the deep end also try to look at things a little more sensibly. Needless to say, Sammya and one or two others on this forum either never read any of my posts after Feb 2005, or ignored them. So, a few direct questions to Sammya .... How many times do you want me to say "I got it wrong"? Do you want me to leave the forum completely? Would it make you happy?
  13. Meaning the f*** what?
  14. All intelligent lifeforms have conceeded that we have made massive progress this year as a TEAM. To work out for yourselves what on God's Green Earth you have to be upset about, try this little test ... Pick the team from last year, as individuals, and say whether they have improved or not. Where a player has left, pick his replacement ... Reina (Dudek).................... IMPROVED Finnan ............................... IMPROVED Riise .................................. IMPROVED Hyppia ............................... IMPROVED (Massively) Carragher .......................... SAME LEVEL Kewell ............................... IMPROVED (Massively) Gerrard ............................. IMPROVED Sissoko (Hamman) ............. IMPROVED (Didi himself is same level) Alonso ............................... SAME LEVEL, Recently Degraded performance Garcia ............................... DEGRADED Crouch (Baros) .................. IMPROVED Others .... Morientes ........................... SAME LEVEL Cisse ................................. IMPROVED, Recently Degraded performance Traore ............................... WHO KNOWS? Fowler (Sinama) ................. IMPROVED.... and we also have Kromkamp and the kids - Warnock has improved too for example. ONLY Garcia of the first XI has to take a real step up, and he's been unfit for three months. Xabi needs a rest, which anyone can see. Now, HOW can things be as bad as the Kneejerkers make out when this is patently true? Do we have to win the Champions League every year to stop people getting slaughtered? Get a grip.

Fairly sure Momo is NOT a ginger.
  16. Aaaaanyway.... back to the original premise of the original post.. On the PLUS side, I think we should tell FIFA to stuff the WCC up their jacksies this December, no matter HOW much they beg us to attend. Ahem.
  17. ..... is BANG on the money. Their five in midfield was clearly designed to inhibit Xabi, Garcia and Kewell, and it worked very well apart from about 15 minutes in the first half. They are MUCH better than Olympiakos. Kewell was marked out of the game by the impressive right-back, but their left-back was probably their weakest player defensively - something to think about for the second leg. There centre midfield was comfortable, but only because nobody was driving at them, and this certainly won't be the case at Anfield. Two things ... I'd rest Xabi on Sunday AND pull him out of the Spain friendly (if they have one), and we need an aggresive Crouch in a fortnight AND a referee who thinks that Peter is not always the fouler, sometimes HE gets fouled. Oh! and get someone not on two yellows to whack Karagounis into the stand early doors.
  18. Nice try. Actually, it was my wife who I've spoken two for less than 4 seconds the last two times I've watched a game at home. Each time she asked me if I wanted a cup of tea. Last time, Ferdinand scored, tonight Benfica scored. For the home leg she will mostly be locked in a cupboard.
  19. Tonight's defeat was down to one person, and one person alone. And we all know who that was. It's not as if it hasn't happened many times before.
  20. I think they're being played on 4 consecutive midweek nights for the old Television Machine...
