I agree with all the positive comments about mascerano - he was fantastic yesterday. He never just sat either, he was up and down the pitch and played with a real passion. He has a brilliant little engine and never stops running. His distribution was a hell of a lot better yesterday as well. He was our MOM for me Also starting to see where everyone is coming from about alonso as well, we went to pieces yesterday when he went off. He was brilliant as well and he makes us play better football, he just links everything together. I would like to see that system with a settled in babbel on the left and a new guy, someone like alves on the right and torres on his own up front. I think that could be the long term solution to where to play gerrard as well

your f'ckin kidding arent yeh wayne Walcott cost more than alonso and babbel and arsenal have not won f'ck all by the way yet Hargreaves cost £2 million less than torres, as did Carrick. What about the £30 million centre back (Ferdinand) , £12 million winger (Ronaldao) and £25 million striker (Rooney) that where already there when rafa started. What about the TWO £15 million kids they also bought.

No wayne, we were accepting worthington/european/FA cup finals without a challenge. As for this season, the first season our manager has been able to spend a few quid getting near the levels the other three managers can spend we are not out of any title race and have not lost a game yet in the league either. I understand why you are upset but you are writing this season off way to early

Seriously lads, there is some things I disagree with strongly on this thread. Some of you have gone way over the top. Firstly Arsenal. They where great to watch, lovely passing, all the players are athletic and good on the ball and their movement was fantastic. It was testament to how well they have been getting coached for the last 4 or 5 years. They are also super confident at the minute because they have just won 12 on the bounce but ffs lads, they have won f’ck all for years and have not won nothing yet this season either. Your quoting how far Liverpool finished behind the leaders over the last few years, how about Arsenal ? 04/05 12 05/06 27 06/07 21 Yesterdays game. First 15 minutes we where on top, pressing high up the pitch but then they came into it and where the better team by quite some margin in the first half. Second half I thought we where by far the better team, we actually had a striker up there who could run and it showed, Crouch was fantastic when he came on, caused them all kinds of problems and where much the better team (apart from the attack when fabregas missed an open goal) and created lots of chances until we lost Alonso. Mascerano was absolutely outstanding, everywhere, playing like a man possessed. Then the game turned again when we put arbeloa in midfield. The first half performance had a lot to do with the fact torres could not run and we where effectively playing with 10 man and no striker. This is bad enough with a 4-4-2, but in a 4-5-1 we played it was a huge blow. Rafa got in wrong playing kuyt and voronin wide but the actual system worked well, especially in the second half when crouch came on and we had an actual threat spearheading the attack. He also got it wrong bringing arbeola on in central midfield, he should have moved gerrard in there and gone to a standard 4-4-2 when Alonso got injured. To suggest we are a million miles from Arsenal is ludicrous over reaction. To suggest we are still in as bad a state as we where when houllier was in charge is again a f’ckin laughable statement. Reina, Agger, Mascerano, Alonso, Torres – f’ckin brilliant players brought in. We are now respected and feared throughout Europe, the same amount of champions league finals in two years than wenger and ferusons ‘brilliant’ football has brought them in a combined TWENTY F’CKIN SIX YEARS of trying. Everyone talks about Liverpool as a serious contender to win the European cup at the start of every season. We did not even get spoken about as a serous contender to f’ckin qualify for it under houllier. People in England now speak about a big four, not a big two (Arsenal and Utd) like they did when houllier was in charge. Rafa has had to deal with Arenal, Utd AND Chelsea with their billions and one of the best managers in the world in mourhino. He has had ONE summer of being able to spend decent money on some players ffs, Walcott cost as much as babbel and Alonso and you talk about spending money and competing????? Give him a f’ckin chance eh, not three months. The league is no way near over, no way f’ckin near you gang of sh’t bags. Its only just starting. We are not out of Europe yet either. The way you lot are going on you would swear we got battered yesterday. B’ollocks, we did not get battered at all and at full strength I would bet on us to beat anyone, any team. There are still a few weaknesses in the squad, we all know that, they tried to replace riise with hienze but couldn’t so I imagine they will in January or next summer. They tried to get a winger but there was no one out there so they decided to go with a young star in babbel and let him develop. They needed back up for centre back but again the hienze thing sccupered that. They have addressed the problem in the youth teams by going out and buying about 17 top kids from all over the world. That man has f’ckin transformed Liverpool into a genuine top team, respected and feared throughout Europe. He has brought in some f’ckin brilliant footballers and is a brilliant tactical coach, we won a European f’ckin cup with troare, biscan and smicer and baros as his only fit striker for nearly a full season FFS. Give him a couple of years of being able to buy with the big boys before you crucify him eh. Now, when all the f’ckers in the national media are trying to drive a wegde in between us and our manager in the time to just calm down a bit. We are not sh’t, we are a f’ckin good team, we are not out of the title race, we are not out of Europe. F’ckin calm down and at least let him lose a league game eh before you question his ability to win the thing.

Aye, makes loads of sense this Sell the one truly world class player we have got and we will become a much better team He is a central midfielder ffs, been playing there all his life and that is his best position. RM my backside, alonso and gerrard in the middle is what we want with two proper, pacy, tricky creative wingers. At least one of your central midfielders has to make forward runs or you become predictable and easy to play against.

Arsenal have not played anyone yet mate and have had the majority of their games at home, lets not get all giddy about arsenal untill we see them at the weekend against us. Its not them I am worried about, its more Utd. We are currently only a point off them if we win our game in hand, we are in a good position in the league and we have been lucky the last few weeks whilst playing badly to stay in touch
