Saturday's team is going to be hard to predict then. I would like to see Didi in there.....fresh legs and would occupy a lot of the space that Rooney likes to take up. A lot will depend on Xabi's fitness too though.
Fair enough point I suppose. Just seems amazing that he was back in their squad since early January and his physical condition seemed miles off what it should have been and obviously Rafa's first priority has been to get that right.
Makes one wonder what Citeh were up to with him for the last 6 months or so. I know he was injured, but surely they could have forced him to do some weights or something. What did they do when he turned up for training every morning ? send him home with a T-bone, a bag of Oven chips and a 6 pack ? Seems to be that they just didn't give a toss about him and left him to do as he likes.
It must be the worst team under Wenger. But to be fair, their team has lost top players either temporarily or permanantly for various reasons....Lauren, Campbell, Cole, Viera, Reyes, Van Persie, Bergkamp. Not an easy job to replace that lot.
I was so glad to hear Rafa call for some action on this. He obviously knows it could make him look silly the next time one of his players are seen to be diving, but its about time someone within the game spoke out about this horrible epidemic in the game, of which no club is exempt.
Him & Wenger were sad in the post match interviews on MOTD. Fat Sam rabbiting on about getting no decision again (Yawn !)....and mumbling something about players learning how to tackle. Now, Fat Sam, why didn't you rebuke YOUR player for his TWO FOOTED tackle on Reyes that broke Reyes' foot (albeit suits us for next Tuesday) like you rebuked both Referee and Momo Sissoko for a far less dangerous tackle a few weeks back ? As for Wenger claiming there was no comparison between both two footed tackles.....I know he wears thick spces, but can he really not see beyond the white touchline in front of him ?
John Terry must be in with a shout ? I hate the Chavs, but his contributions seem to me to be far more valuable to them than Fat Frank's. If Stevie G finishes the season like he played up until the turn of the year, then he'll be in with a great shout.
Yes he does....but the ball generally ends up going for a throw in on the opposite side as he always seems to overhit it........high, & with too much pace instead of low(ish) & with direction. On the original point.....Finnan's cross for Kewell v Spurs was from 20+ yards, but it was intelligent, perfectly placed and had the right person on the end of it, so it's not always the wrong option.
The best result would be an Arjen Robben broken nose following an encounter with David Weir's elbow.....let's see how fast he can fall when he's been really hurt.
Remember Robbie getting a couple at the Valley in 2001 to help us get into the CL ? A repeat performance would be the perfect tonic after a difficult couple of weeks.
LMAO at Big Wayne. I never knew that before And I always thought I liked Sc***horpe because they gave us Keegan & Clemence - perhaps in hindsight it was for more sinister reasons. I'm off to examine the list of league clubs to see if there are any more. How juvenile of me....reminds me of teenage days when I used to get a kick out of looking up those words in the dictionary.
Positives : - The 2 recent defeats have been on pitches that are more suitable to beach volleyball [ ironically against the 2 clubs widely acclaimed to be the richest in the world ] - We have to play only teams that are below us in the league from now on - We are in a far better position then we were last season - Robbie is getting fit - We were destined to suffer a couple of downers before the 'up' of knocking ManU out of the cup - Come Wednesday evening, all will be well again.
There hasn't been a game between us where Carvallhio hasn't done something like that and got away with it. Instead of going on about it, perhaps we should learn from it. Had Riise blocked off Gallas' run for the 1st goal, like Carvallhio & Terry constantly do, then Gallas wouldn't have got to the ball first.
Everton haven't failed us in delivering their bi-annual post-Transfer window mantra after yet another fruitless window just passes on by. Are their fans really that fickle that they believe this every time : http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0400eve...-name_page.html
