    FSG Watch...

He's obviously gained one hell of an affinity to all things American, during his time there.

You seem to be on some bizarre 'stick up for your countrymen' crusade to convince us that, because there are worse options than FSG, they are good enough or we should accept them because 'it could be worse'. Stop it.

Let's not try to do better in case we do worse. The war cry of a champion

An FSG who realise they know f*** all about football & therefore appoint someone who does, would be good.

I don't know where they get this nonsense from Does ANYONE think that article has any credibility whatsoever?

    Joe Gomez

Yeah, i was concerned about him at times yesterday too. All to be expected, young lad, debut at a hard place, out of position and up against a brute, All things considered, he was pretty decent but there were a few tricky moments and Stoke clearly targeted him with that diagonal aerial ball to Walters. No doubt he'll develop into an excellent player and even at this stage, being so young, raw and inexperienced, i'd still have no qualms with him playing games, Any wobbles were what you'd expect, but it wasnt serious enough whereby he looked out of place or out of his depth. Decent experience for the kid.

This would clearly seem to be nonsense but there's some rumours gathering pace via Twitter that the club's is close to being sold. Check the timeline of @Mr_CallumWright for more info. Some other guy is peddling the same kind of story but differs on the nationality of the alleged new owners: @PhantomGoal
  16. Sorry, what difference does she mean?
  17. Doesn't qualify for a work permit, apparently.
  18. Even his goal celebration is like Suarez If he does megs as well, I'll cry.
  19. You could've said the same about Suarez though, or Coutinho. Good players get sold a lot, loads of clubs buy them and it IS sometimes us.

Yeah, I guess it's part semantics but my view of a 'British transfer record' is a move where both the buyer and seller are British. In that context, Beardsley was a record transfer fee.

True but the prose in that that jumps from Robson in 1981 to Cole in 1995. No mention of anything between the two. On the actual list, it has Robson at £1.5m in 1981 and the next all British one is Cole to United in 1995 for £7m. We all know that we signed Beardsley in 1987 for £1.8m from Newcastle so either that article on Wiki is selective in what it includes or just plain wrong. If we are to believe the article, then no player went from one British club to another between 81 and 95 for more than £1.5m - which is clearly balls. Shearer in 1992 for £3.3m is the easiest example to disprove that immediately.

Pretty sure that Beardsley at £1.8m was a transfer record at the time.

I'm not sure FFP does actually give us a better chance. On paper it should do and it certainly should've done years ago. But nowadays, Chelsea make more than us in revenues, so do Arsenal and Man Utd (by a country mile) and in fact, so do City if the football authorities are going to swallow all of their so called sponsorship deals which conveniently bring in hundreds of millions, by sheer coincidence, from Abu Dhabi based companies. We can't compete without FFP & to be honest, we can't compete with it either. Im fact, I think it's fair to say that won't compete for top honours with any remote level of consistency, under FSG, full stop. Entirely regardless of whether FFP exists or is enforced.

The accuracy of this is painfully abundant. We were more out of our depth than a 14 year old in a nightclub.

The intentions are right but these lot don't or won't understand what it takes to succeed at the highest level. Too busy leaking stories for PR while other clubs say nothing & just get the job done. We bleat, Man Utd sign Depay. The latest in a long line of failures in the market. I want this mob out personally. We'll never win with their 'be smart and do things on the cheap' mode.
