@DazColz: Brendan Rodgers apparently close to being sacked, with Liverpool set to announce the news at 09:00 tomorrow morning #LFC Journalist @UTVIreland. Enjoys loud music, gaeilge and all things sport
Interesting point on Klopp - he's had 14 years in management and won all his trophies during a 2 year portion of that. Question marks over a 'purple patch' or not something of concern?
The fluidity thing has lost its direction for me, it's great in terms of movement and temporary short switches of position on the field, which can make it harder for opposition defences. I think though, there's been some kind of misguided overlap in Brendan's head and that good, meaningful fluidity has transformed into playing people in positions they're uncomfortable with and over complicating methodology. All of which has made it more difficult for said players.
If I let my cynicism creep in, my hunch would suggest not Carlo or Klopp, but more like De Boer or AVB, worryingly. That said, info that we've been in discussion with Carlo has come via (IMO) an impeccable source (among several), so I really hope there's something in that. Let's put it this way, I think FSG are keen on Carlo. Whether they have enough carrot or nous to nab him, is another story entirely, to my mind. I don't think they're keen on Klopp either. I imagine he's under consideration but certainly not first choice by any means.
Again, I have to reiterate this is just my hunch but I don't see him lasting more than 10 days from here. IMO his last match, at the latest, will be Goodison and I don't even reckon he'll necessarily see that.
Could be misjudgement on my part & it's very easily dismissible as speculation but it's getting noisier and 'no smoke without fire' springs to mind. Like I say, I could be completely wrong (wouldn't be the first time!) but I reckon a decision is fairly imminent.
Depends what our realistic objective is for the season. If it's top 4, that's a long way from being in write-off territory. Unless of course BR somehow clings on for another 2-3 months. If so, he could do enough damage to put it behind us. If someone like Carlo comes in (or any other top manager), then top 4 is easily retrievable.
Another team doing the rounds now haha. I don't know which is correct: Bogdan, Toure, Gomez, Lovren, Clyne, Allen, Milner, Moreno, Firmino, Lallana, Ings
If he's no longer remotely injured, which he seemingly isn't, all he is lacking is match fitness - which you get with minutes. He'll probably get another hour under his belt & the chance to get a goal or two. Aside from Carlisle booting him (I've no idea if they're a dirty side or not), I don't see a major problem.
Apparently the team is: Bogdan, Cleary, Gomez, Lovren, Brannagan, Chirivella, Allen, Rossiter, Firmino, Ings, Sturridge No idea about formation, it doesn't seem to contain any full backs or wide midfielders.
All the stories about Klopp, LFC say nothing. Story about Carlo and they deny within a few hours. I can't remember specifics, they don't tweet news on a daily or even weekly basis. I just put a 'mental tick or cross' by different sources each time they get something right or wrong and Globe have numerous ticks. Of course you're free to believe or disbelieve as you wish.
I reckon it's pretty clear at this point that FSG don't want lose to face by sacking BR so soon after backing him in the summer. The media was full of how much we've spent, even though it was only about £20m net. Plus, they don't want to pay the compensation. And BR won't walk of his own accord. All the while, if we believe LFCGlobe (I do), Ancelotti actually wants the job. Talk about between a rock and a f*cking hard place.
