He has been calm and expectant after he took such a huge decisions, conscious of the consequences. Believe me if I say that his agents aren´t doing anything that he doesn’t want them to do (no, he has not parted company with them, despite internet rumours to the contrary that surfaced last night). I believe Chris Bascombe when he says that Liverpool are willing to listen to a new offer from Chelsea because I was told that in the last 24 hours both clubs have been in touch. That suggests that Liverpool realise that Torres has taken this step because it is clear he wants to leave and there is not much point in keeping someone, no matter how important, if he is not happy. The striker did not lift a finger in the summer after receiving huge offers from City and Chelsea because he was told it was decisive for the selling of the club that he stayed. He was not the only important player that could have left stayed to help the club. But on this occasion and thinking perhaps that the wagon of Chelsea, who is showing their ambition by trying to sign him, will not pass again, Torres had to take a decision as Liverpool, who are certainly progressing but not at the pace he would like, were not willing to listen to new offers after the first one. I had a fascinating discussion on the radio with Ian St John, someone I respect a lot. Some people have invented a story that on the radio I talked about when the transfer request was presented to Liverpool (we didn’t get into that at all). But it was an interesting exchange as Ian argued that players have got too much power while I reasoned they have earned that power because, after all they are the stars of this business. However, I also understand the idea that clubs, as Ian said, should be above players, that it is the clubs that carry the feelings, history and the name and players shouldn´t be above them.

Imagine him playing with the confidence of having Masch alongside him. Thought Poulson was better today, but he is just too slow. We've hade some quality in that role in recent years (Didi, Momo, Masch) and Poulson is simply not as good. Well, 3 points and there were spells in that game where we passed with pace and purpose - something we have not seen enought of and which Kenny is evidently working in.

You never know what goes on behind closed doors, but I think he showed acumen and balls throughout the sales process. As fans it is easy to say what we would/wouldn't have done. Purslow chose to put the interests of the club ahead of the interests of his employers at not inconsiderable risk to his personal business reputation and potential exposure to a law suit (still hanging over him I guess) The truth is we just don't know the ins and outs of this. It just strikes me as harsh that Purslow is the arch villain in all of this and Broughton the saviour - it can't be that black and white. Similarly on the football side, we just don't know the ins and outs and the reality of working for employers whose actions are unreliable (who knows the truth behind transfer policy and funding and how often the goal posts were changed). Sure, Purslow made some dubious statements about net transfer spend etc, but what MD/CEO of a global corporation doesn't spin from time to time. I tell you what, if every single comment I made was scrutinized as much as his I am sure you could tear me to pieces - even though my intentions and heart are with LFC. That is the nub of it for me - sure he would have made mistakes, I just think his heart is and was with LFC.

was watching the Sold programme of lfctv last night and watching it back now, knowing how things panned out was brilliant. I know Purslow gets a lot of stick on here, but I think he played a blinder and really has had/does have the best interests of the club at heart. I thought he was really impressive throughout the takeover process.

Not sure if this is in the right place so please feel free to move mods. My lad is 5 and a half and loves being in his kit all the time. He will want to wear it as the weather turns. Can anyone suggest any baselayers/skins or whatever they are called for kids that age. Long sleeve and red ideally! Also, any tracksuits for 5-6 year olds? Been searching the shops and the internet and not much. Again, ideally a Liverpool one. Cheers

I think that is spot on Dave. It gets on my t**s all this nonsense about pundits (especially redknapp) having and anti liverpool agenda. Look at the stick Arsenal have been getting, look at how many people have said that manure will struggle without ronaldo. All teams get it, we just seem to think we are being picked on alone. Ex footballers aren't rocket scientists, they have to fill lots of live airtime. if you were completely one dimensional and biased you would not get a job as a pundit again, so they have to mix it up and be a bit controversial. Redknapp also talks about his love for the reds (as do many ex reds in the media). they are making a living, having to be balanced and a bit controversial.
