I genuinely respect the vast majority of what you post, but this is pure Pony. Wenger is frugal in the transfer market and everyone can see that, he spends more on wages than us fair enough but he finished above us last year and is currently top of the league while Spurs, who you compare him against, lie bottom 10 points behind Arsenal after 5 games. Your statement about Wenger is purely your own opinion with no factual basis whatsoever, but because you're a recognised sensible poster on here there are people doing the clappy hands cr@p about it. Spurs have spent £100M on players, they are getting paid lots of money and they are bottom of the league. Arsenal did stuff Sheffield with a bunch of kids who most of us have never heard of with an average age of about 12 - if it had been our reserves we would still be shouting about it, and we did struggle against Crewe with a side that would probably finish mid-table in the PL. Anyway, no offence meant, no insults thrown, no swearing by me, all agreed?

We just need to play the tallest players we've got and we'll be fine!
-
Thought Kuyt in particular did very well, Watched the game again and still think Yossi was easily our worst player - maybe its me!
-
Yossi was utter s****, he was cr@p and the fact that we won doesn't automatically mean that all of our players get 10 out of 10 you thick f*****! Gashwilliams indeed.
-
Benayoun was s****, couldn't hit the same colour shirt from 10 yards - couldn't hold the ball and couldn't pass the ball to his team-mates, he was lightweight in the extrame!
-
Mascherano was the best player on the pitch by a mile. Kuyt was very good which for him is outstanding - a real handful. Skrtel.

So you're defending Rafa's purchases but complaining about where he plays them? -

Which 5? -
And how many of us have been 'puzzled' by buying Keane for £20M?

And you'd say he's benefited from it would you? Rooney's s**** playing wide for both United and England, he doesn't score and often gets booked hacking players down out of frustration. I'd also question whether Rafa has proven himself a 'GREAT' manager like Ferguson yet either. -

If you're supporting the "He's best on the right" arguement then he was played out of position every time Kuyt played on the right. I remember a couple of games last season when we playes a nominal 4-4-2 and he played left with Pennant right. He's our best player, with the possible exception of Torres you move the other players to accomodate him. -

So Sven, McLaren and Capello have all got the best out of Gerrard playing him out of the centre? He's been s**** for England every time he's played out of the centre, he played LM for us last season a couple of times and was garbage as well. If we moved him round to accomodate, Messi, Kaka, Essien etc it wouldn't be too bad but we move him round to fit Pennant, Yossi and Kuyt in. -
Ca't see that anywhere in the article? And are you led to believe from stuff you've been told or assuming from what you've read? No p1sstake, I'm genuinely interested.
-
I'm sure it was within the last few months - mind you I've posted that SWP signed for Everton so what the f*** do I know?
-
To be honest this is the only thing that makes me believe that we're still in with a chance of getting rid of the Yanks. The problem if Dubai walk away is that every year we fall behind more and more clubs it will be more expensive for whoever looked at buying us to get us back up there! Didn't the guy from Abu Dhabi say that they'd been offered a % of Liverpool but weren't interested?
-
Well bearing in mind any decent English players would suddenly be worth their weight in Gold City could easily outbid us for all of them. Also don't underestimate how this is going to look 12 months down the line to players like Torres and Gerrard, Gerrard is entering his late w20's and is no nearer winning the PL than he's ever been. After more than 10 years service who could really blame him if he decided to cash in on the last 5 years of his footballing prime? Same for Torres, a player almost universally recognised as the best striker in the World, playing for a team that aren't one of the best in the world? If DIC don't come in soon, and we receive bids for Gerrard and Torres around the £40M mark for each of them what do you think the 'board' will do?

City can put put a side now thats not far away from a European challenge as it is, they've bought Kompany to go with Richards, Dunne and Onuoha(sp?) in defence, SWP, Hamann, Petrov, Johnson in Midfield, Robinho, Jo up front.
-
The front guy from Abu Dhabi, Dr someone, has just been interviewed on the phone by SSN and was asked "Will there be more players bought in the January transfer window" "YES" "Can you reveal any names?" WE will meet with the manager Mark, find out who he wants, and secure the players" Arsenal should possibly be more worried than us this season, but if they're not too far back on January 1st I wouldn't rule out a push for CL places this season!
-
I think the point is thay won't "be a club like city" for much longer - they'll be a club like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Man United - only with more money!
-
who's else is it gonna be?
-
Why would he want to join a club with a brand new ground, fanatical support, a good manager and the backing of one of the richest organisations in the World to buy absolutley whoever they want and will pay him astronomical wages? You're right he won't go there will he? The old guard's changing and top players tend to go where the money/success is/will be.

No financial details were revealed in the statement, which was released by Samir Al-Neel, media and public relations manager at Hydra Properties. "The investment services and development in Abu Dhabi, has successfully completed the huge takeover of the English club (Manchester City), one of the most prominent and oldest English clubs," the statement read. You might be right but thats what I read!
