Kewell----Masch----Momo----Gerrard Could be an option. Still think that looks like it would our strongest Midfield (minus Xabi in for Momo) on the evidence so far. An on form Babel or Pennant or Benayoon would allow Gerrard to get back to the centre alongside either Xabi or Masch (depending on the opposition etc). This Lucas lad is the same age as Babel, played in the South American 'Champions League Final', Won the award for best player in Brazil (check the previous winners!) and has played for the full National team, while also captaining the U20 side... If anything he has more pedigree than Babel (albeit less caps). I'd love to see him get a chance in the coming weeks, maybe alongside Masch with Gerrard on the right, could be Star.

Agreed. Bring back Gonzales! On the right he looks good, would like to see him upfront, reckon he could be very dangerous. Hes got 'it' whatever that is, needs to be told what to do with 'it' though. When placcy Ronaldo went to the scum he had little or no end product whatsoever, a season later and hes 'World Class' - maybe Ferguson or Queerez sorted him out, if we bought young Richardo and Rafa got hold of him maybe he could do the same.... Credit to Porto, they were excellent, lots of skill and superb in possession, up there with the Barca team that won it a few seasons ago in that respect, cant say Reina has all that much to do tho which is a bit weird considering, they looked a bit lost in the final 3rd, might be being a bit harsh on our defence here though. Tim Vickery, the South American football fountain of knowledge reckons that Lucas's best role would be alongside someone more defensive, ala Mascherano and possibly Xabi, so he can have the freedom to get forward. Portsmouth away is probably the furthest we have to travel for an away trip and its an early KO and its after an international break. Its not hard to see why hes moaning, espesh since he says it rules out a decent training session as they have to travel and the man is obsessed with the fine details of each game (prob one of the reasons hes as amazing as he is) so hes bounded to be a bit pissed off. U would be if you had less time to practise on your girlfriend before meeting Pamela Anderson in a hotel room the night after...
