Lovely goal from Cody

Guess it’s going to take a bit of time for all the players to gel with each other

It wasn’t meant as a dig, just poor wording

Just nice to see improvements in the side

Just thinking if that was Darwin taking that shot at goal instead of Ekitike. Pretty sure we wouldn’t be 1 up

Great goal from Ekitike

Konate is all over the place with his feet

The officiating hasn’t improved then. Deliberately swiping the ball away with your hand is fine now apparently

My favourite Italian centre half we’ve ever had.

Well thanks, Jim. I have absolutely no recollection of Modric going on strike when he was at Spurs. All I remember was the epic career he had at Madrid. Maybe in 13 years time we’ll all remember how s*** Newcastle United have been run over the years.

Hopefully this turns out better than the Isak palaver.

Daily Mail are saying Real Madrid want Wharton and are following his progress whilst also pondering the signing of Konate on a free transfer if he doesn’t renew his contract with us.

He already looks about the same size as Virgil.

If Konate is off next summer then I nominate him to be the spokesperson to go in front of the Newcastle fans to explain to them why they’re being unreasonable in not selling us Isak.

It might put a bit of pressure on Konate to sign a new contract. If he doesn’t sign a contract extension he may find himself more and more on the bench which may affect his chances of being a starter for France in the WC next year.

It’s like a game of Where’s Wally

So Newcastle could have been working on a replacement like Ekitike at the start of the transfer window but just didn’t bother.

Small matter of him being suspended

I really hope we have a plan B if we can’t get Isak. The problem is we’ve been here before and we didn’t have a plan B then so it’s understandable people are getting twitchy. Put in a realistic offer for Isak in the next day or two, if that is rejected then go for Rodrygo before City buy him. We need to at least put in an offer in for at least one centre back this week too.

Or we really don’t have a plan B.

He was defending too narrowly as well. There were numerous times he’d got back to defend but was nowhere near the attacker to block the crosses coming in.

He’s certainly quicker than Trent!

Think City were linked with him last season too

Didn’t Endo only miss one clearance today when he was off balance spinning around?

We can at least see where improvement is required before the season starts
