If the owners are unimpressed then they don’t have anyone else to blame but themselves. They employed both of them. They should have stepped in when Edwards wanted to bring in his mate Hughesy with no other candidates seemingly being considered.

Think Gakpo is just lacking a bit too much technically for Iraola. Every right back in the league knows how to defend against Gakpo now. It’s either run straight down the wing or cut inside. He’s nullified if the defender just stays on the inside of him. I think he can still do a job for us but can see why we might be looking to replace him.

Very promising performance from him. Looked like he was barking out some instructions to the players around him too.

It takes such a lot longer getting back to the same level of fitness you had compared to the time it takes to lose it. Normally 1 player coming back from an injury is bad enough but the rest of the team can usually cope. When it’s the whole squad that’s trying to regain fitness it’s going to be tough. We also need to be really careful with injuries because tendons and ligaments adapt so much slower than muscles. Slot really did a number on us.

Bit weird again why FSG are allowing the club to be run like this. They should have had a replacement for Hughes and Edwards in by now. Leaving Hughes to sort out the transfers when he’s already half out the door and Edwards already gone is bizarre.

Utterly nuts that we didn’t go for Semenyo when he was available. Even if we do somehow sign Barcola, we still need to sign somebody to play on the right.

Absolutely gutting news this. He was probably the first sports idol I had as a kid. Brilliant footballer and strong as an ox. He was also responsible for me getting an England shirt. I felt so cool wearing it for PE in Junior school. He was brilliant on Superstars too along with Brian Jacks.
