    Progress

Making progress would be an interesting proposition. But it's exactly what everyone else will be expecting. I say we go backwards and take them all by surprise.

    Momo

Can't agree with it. I'm not a huge fan of Momo. We still have Hamann, Alonso & Gerrard. What we've witnessed all season is the legacy of breaking up the Stevie/Xabi partnership. Alonso's form has gone to pot while Gerrard's been stuck out wide to accomodate Sissoko and to cover up transfer failings. If we stick with Gerrard & Alonso for the rest of the season (ban excluded) then we'll be fine, we won't miss Sissoko. FFS, they're our first choice central midfield partnership. Or should be.
  5. When he took Mori off instead of Crouch last week because the crowd demanded it I said jokingly "S***, he's turned into Evans. It's all downhill from here." I think he's realised the squad isn't stronger than last year and it's either scaring him or he's losing a bit of self-confidence from it.

    Deja Vu

True. You just know that if Silva had presented the exact same chance to any of our forwards (barring Garcia) that they'd have missed. And missed badly.
  7. Heskey failed here, big time. If he'd stayed he suddenly wouldn't have become Pele. FFS, face facts. Crouch, Morientes, Sinama & Mellor are also all failing. The Folwer thing is an anomaly. The only ones worth considering & arguing over are Owen and Baros.
  8. "God, Xabi's sending off may yet cost us. Where's the ball now? Oh. Still, the fecker deserved for having a better haircut than me. I blame me mam, she still insists on cutting it. Who's got it now? Wow, he's got a great first touch. And nice legs. Not nicer than Frankie's, obviously. I hope someone passes to me soon. Was Gareth right - will there ever be a boy born who can swim faster than a shark? I'll ring Sven later, he'll know. Cool, here comes the ball now. Oh man, I wish Mikey was still here. I could lamp (ah, Lamps... just can't kind you out of my head, c'mon concentrate don't start singing that Kylie song like at Cardiff) it up to him and he'd score. I can't believe how clever I was with the journos yesterday, Rafa must bring him back now. I'll show him who The Man is. I'm The Man. I am Da Man! Why can't I do a Jamaican accent? Ooops, here it is. Do I hit it to Crouch? What's the point? If Peter Crouch didn't exist would anyone bother inventing him? He he, I'll tell the Roonster that one. He won't get it, the think fecker. Still, it'd give me an excuse to slip round and see Colleen. Maybe another quick one in the kitchen as Wayno nips out to KFC. Where the hell was I. Ah, yes - duh, football. Owen, natural finisher. Like Henry. Henry would be great for us. Henry. Henry. Henry's in red today. Mmmm, nice. Henry. Henry..... oh feck, not again."

  11. I hope he lets another dozen in during his loan and then says it was deliberate for the Sandra jibes.

    Agm

Sounds a fairly bland meeting. Those are the 2 interesting snippets for me. Retire 12 for us? Noooo! Ask Owen? Hmmm.

    Sissoko

Well Jim McDonald walking again was always an inspiration to Brian Potter.

  18. There was a great article early this season about how great it is that players that fans can identify with (like Carragher, Neville and Terry) are finally getting the recognition they deserve and becoming favourites. The other 2 are still ****s obviously but I do have some respect for them. All 3 have occasionally stepped out of line but they haven't forgotten their roots. They are the names our kids should have on the back of their shirts, the people to inspire the youngsters. A comment attributed to 'Our New Friend Gary' not mentioned in that article is "football is important to the people of Manchester and Liverpool". Nailed it.
  19. I didn't know it was his standing leg, I just presumed (and, if I'm honest, wanted) it was Riise's shot. In that case Riise ought to be ashamed of himself. Give him his P45.
  20. Yeah, okay. And to show it's not all red-tints I could include McManaman & Owen. Ince from West Ham to the Mancs. I can understand how Everton & Leeds fans feel about Barmby & Kewell. They're slightly different (not because of the direction of their transfers) but because the fans believed (or needed to believe) bull from the PR people at their club.

    Reina

I thought his signing was an unnecessary one as I was more than happy with Dudek, genuinely (and still) believing him to be one of the best in Europe. You don't just dump a CL-final hero. But even an eejit like I can spot the gulf in class. Dudek makes great saves, Reina keeps goal. That's the simple but important difference. Maybe it's that old (bulls**t) Cech thing of "he hasn't been tested, not with a great defence ahead of him" but he rarely has to make a spectacular save. His reading of the game, awareness, confidence, positioning and concentration is miles ahead of Dudek. Almost as good as Westerveld's.
  22. I know - I'm so heartless and cold. Somebody's son is lying in a plush private hospital tonight, drinking champagne and the world's classiest hookers relieving him and all I can think is "good". I don't know how I live with meself. My problem is I'm not middle-class enough. Andyjandy - being a football fan is all about hypocrisy and blinkered views. It's not so much that he's a Manc (though it does add a cherry) but a key component of a rival's team. I'm having fun thinking about the next JAR freekick and will anyone be tough enough to try to stop it. And I NEED to know how fast it was going.
  23. Feck him. He's a classless twunt, a thug who's injured a few in his time, a manc, a multi-millionaire who played the "i'm a working class fan like the rest of you" card and took fans for fools until a big payday came. I'll go further than Anny and say I actually enjoy players from other clubs having injuries. I eagerly await them at matches. I pray for them with each hard tackle. There may be a few exceptions for 'nice guys' and career or life threatening ones. But not many, there's always a Reds-biased positive spin I can put on it.

  25. Can I give an honourable mention to the geniuses who decided to close off the entrances to the M58, M57 & A59 at Switch Island. A 50-minute queue from Aintree past Asda only to find another huge queue from there almost to Maghull. Cheers fellas, I enjoyed my enforced tour of the B roads of coastal Britain. Top work.
