  1. I've never had a problem with Keane myself, nor did I with Cantona or Schmeichel. Can't stand Giggs though - see I don't mind the eccentric, ranting 'don't give a f**k' types, it's the whinging little sly b*stards like Giggs and Ronaldo I hate. Every time a decision is given against United Giggs is there, no matter where on the pitch it happens, screwing up his face, pointing and whining into the refs ear...

  3. I think you're right Kev - people used to tell me that although he was a nark on the pitch, that off the pitch he was a real gent, and that looks to be true. He's doing a great job at Blackburn as well; they really are great to watch...
  4. Funny isn't it - Mark Hughes, who I thought was a complete c**t throughout his playing career, actually turns out to be a pretty decent bloke I've thought since he has become a manager...
  5. Remind me of this in the summer if I'm wrong but I think if he ends up getting the players he wants it might not be too far off the lower end of that figure... But feel free to have a anyway mate...
  6. There hasn't been one single person on this thread who has defended the booing as far as I can see. Where, in what Jack said there did he say the booing was right? Its f*cking annoying when you keep explaining yourself and people don't listen. A number of posters, such as me, have said they thought it was the wrong move at the time regardless of what went after. Fowler wasn't looking tired to me, and I would have rather taken him off when Morientes eventually went with about 10-15 minutes to go instead. After all he can't play against Birmingham so will get a week off after Newcastle. If you think Fowler might be too tired, or Morientes was having a blinder, whatever - just don't keep having a go at people for something they aren't saying FFS. Just to add THIS DOESN'T MEAN I AGREED WITH THE BOOING - I THOUGHT IT WAS TOTALLY OUT OF ORDER.
  7. Torres is number one target, and I've got info from my man which agrees with KT on that...
  8. The Adelphi is truly dreadful! Who recommended that sh*th0le?
  9. I'll tell you what's wrong with him - his name's backwards, the stupid c**t...
  10. I made it up...
  11. I'm not surprised to see you say that Elisha. I think when you look at the unequivical statement he's made here, it's pretty clear he could have made this statement a few weeks ago, but things were still being sorted out and his future was uncertain. Was all this a carefully planned push to the board, or was he genuinely thinking of going? I'm not sure, but what I do think is that one hell of a lot has been going on behind the scenes, and the outcome is Rafa is happy and getting the money he wants for the targets he wants. After all - what is he thanking the board for in this statement? The money they've pledged to give him, thats what. My take on it is that Rafa wants to build a great side, and he wants to do it most of all where the people love him, and he'll get the patience and support he wants, which is right here. However, he is still a professional, and if not given the proper tools to do his job, I believe he could have gone somewhere he would be. A little frightening to think the boss could have gone, but the upshot is he's got what he, and all of us wanted - big money to support his vision and take us to the next level; we're in for an exciting summer I think...
  12. Yonder forum members partake in much promising of ale, yet not too much buying methinks...
  13. This story about Benitez signing a new contract was a real bolt from the blue. Unusual, unexpected happenings like that usually suggest something is afoot, and I don't think this is any different. There wasn't any 'We'll sit down with Rafa to discuss a new contract next month' etc as there normally is. I think this ties in with the other rumours going around, and that this time its for real...
  14. I'd like to see how many assists he's got in that time as well...
  15. Absolutely - I've never booed a decision any Liverpool manager has made, nor any Liverpool player. Its just not right, and not something I'd do full stop.
  16. I thought it was a poor sub at the time, as did pretty much everyone in the ground. Just because Morientes scored straight after doesn't mean I'm then going to turn round and say it was a great decision. To be honest pretty much anyone would have stuck that away. I agreed with the introduction of Cisse, as Fulham looked as though they were tiring and may be susceptible to some pace, but I didn't think Fowler should have been the one to be withdrawn. Who was performing out of the two strikers? Fowler had been by far the better player to that stage of the game, and our lead looked shaky, so to me it didn't make sense. Fine - things turned out for the best which is great, but although I'm sure Rafa knows plenty more than I do, it doesn't mean I have to agree with every single thing he does just because he's the manager does it? That would just make me a robot... Absolutely my sentiments...
  17. I disagreed with the sub but of course I didn't boo - totally agree that goes against everything we're supposed to stand for as Liverpool supporters. However, although Morientes did of course stick the ball in the net almost straight after, in all fairness he was woeful again last night. The lad is almost painful to watch he's that ponderous and short on confidence. He looks like someone has plucked him from a pub team at times when he labours to get to a ball just a few yards away from him. People talking about resting Fowler would also do well to remember, that at the time the sub was made Fulham were looking every inch like they were about to equalise, having just hit the post. We looked all over the place at the back at that time, so taking off by far our best striker on the night looked a big risk to me. I thought it was a poor decision at the time and I still do; Morientes banging one in from a couple of yards out and Fulham capitulating late on doesn't change that. Totally disagreed with the booing yes, but not with the sentiment.
  18. My train was late and I didn't get into the ground until right before the kick off Finally made it to The Oakie last night before the game though, and met a few of the lads which was good. Sorry I missed out on meeting you NYR, Vlad told me a good time was had by all!
  19. If this signing means we'll see the back of Champions League winner Djimi Traore, I think I may open that reserve bottle of red I've been keeping for a special occasion when its confirmed... Incidentally I think Aurelio is a talented footballer, but thats by the by...
  20. 'Lets keep the rumours under wraps' plead Ronaldo and Crouch... http://www.laurel-e-hardy.it/html/download...bs/foto-5-l.gif
  21. He offers a great deal as a sub bringing something different and unsettling for defenders. I'd like to see him used in the same way for us in all honesty, but we'll have to buy two top-class strikers to make it happen...
  22. I keep seeing people compare those two, but in all fairness although Morientes had a good record in Spain it's ludicrous to draw any comparisons there except for both have played for Madrid and are around the same age. For a start they are completely different players - one relying on pace, movement and a deadly finish, the other aerial ability, touch and football brain. Then there's the little fact of the stats having Ronaldo well ahead of any other player in the top leagues in the world for goals to games, and Morientes not even being close. One has been a well known international striker, the other the best in the world. Ronaldo may be fat, but he's (somehow) still fast as f*uk and that's why he'd still score hatfuls here in my opinion. I'd be ecstatic if we got him and one of Kuyt or Owen, but I would imagine money and location would be big hurdles to get over if we were to try and sign him.
  23. Italian tanks - 1 gear forwards 5 for reverse. The way they behave backs that old adage up - Italian hooligans seem genuinely cowardly, attacking only en masse, in their own back yard and with weapons. And the police haven't even got the balls to deal with them when they kick off. Fking horrible - every team that goes over there in Europe gets the same yet they escape serious punishment again and again...
  24. Yeah I stuck him in my fantasy team - and he's scoring loads of points already. His 3 points last night put me 71st in The Times FA Cup competition out of tens of thousands, which was nice. If Bolton keep a clean sheet tonight I might be in with a chance of winning it...
  25. Looks very good to me - not sure about comparisons with Morientes though, for me he just looks like him and they are both good in the air. He's much quicker than Morientes, but doesn't have his technique. They are both good attacking balls into the box, but wheras Samaras comes across as being a bit unpredicatable, Morientes in his heyday I thought was more technical and less of a wildcard. I think Samaras will be one of those players who'll miss easy chances, but he'll get himself into a lot of positions and accordingly will get goals. He does actually bring other players into play very well also, which suggests he's got it up top as well; he played a few passes against Sunderland without looking, instinctively he knew where the forward-running midfielder would be, which is a good sign. He's only 20, settling into a new style of football and will get better - I've been very impressed so far...
